Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 19

Atalanta: Mario Pasalic had a small set back in his return from sports hernia and will miss some more time.

Benevento: Marco Sau was hit with a two-game suspension for berating the referee. Roberto Insigne hurt his ankle/foot in the past game but he made the squad list and will be a late call. Gabriele Moncini (ankle), Gaetano Letizia (thigh) and Pasquale Schiattarella (COVID) are out. Iago Falque, Nicolas Viola and Luca Caldirola are available but not ready to start.

Bologna: Ibrahima Mbaye (thigh) and Gary Medel (calf) have recovered after significant time on the mend. Federico Ravaglia has Coronaviurs, Federico Santander will not be back in months due to an ACL tear.

Cagliari: Adam Ounas is trying to shake off some adductor soreness, Paolo Faragò a bruised thigh, but his extended absence could be transfer-market related: neither has recovered. Ragnar Klavan is re-conditioning after COVID, while Andrea Carboni is going through the protocol.

Crotone: Ahmad Benali (calf) and Luca Marrone (thigh) have resumed practicing with the rest of the group and made the squad list, while Luca Cigarini is still nursing some calf pain and Giuseppe Cuomo will miss a month with a hip strain. Emmanuel Riviere is a late scratch with muscle fatigue. 

Fiorentina: no absentees for Cesare Prandelli.

Genoa: Gianluca Scamacca (muscle fatigue) and Mattia Destro have recovered, while Luca Pellegrini, Francesco Cassata (thigh) and Vittorio Parigini (thigh) have not. Cristian Zapata (calf) and Davide Biraschi (shoulder) are out of commission. Lukas Lerager is a late scratch for unknown reasons. 

Inter: Alexis Sanchez had a little injury scare but avoided serious muscular problems. Andrea Pinamonti (ankle) was on the bench last week, while Matias Vecino could make his return in this one. Danilo D’Ambrosio is on the shelf with a MCL sprain.

Juventus: Federico Chiesa turned his ankle again in the Supercup and is questionable, like Merih Demiral that missed that match due to a sore scar in his thigh. Paulo Dybala (knee) will not be back this week. Juan Cuadrado shook off COVID, while Alex Sandro and Matthijs De Ligt are battling it.

Lazio: Luis Alberto had surgery for appendicitis and will likely miss two or three matches. Luiz Felipe will be operated on his bothersome ankle and will be out for two-to-three months. Mohamed Fares (calf) and Thomas Strakosha (thigh) returned from their muscular injuries in Coppa Italia. Danilo Cataldi is dealing with a thigh strain.

Milan: Alessio Romagnoli and Alexis Saelemaekers are suspended. Ante Rebic and Rade Krunic have cleared the Coronavirus protocol and their form will be assessed in practice, while Theo Hernandez was deemed a false positive and will be fully available right away, leaving Hakan Calhanoglu as the only COVID case. The coach hinted that Rebic and Kruni will not be available this week. Ismael Bennacer is not ready to return from this thigh strain, same as Matteo Gabbia (knee sprain).

Napoli: Fabian Ruiz contracted Coronavirus last week. Kevin Malcuit is trying to shake off some calf muscle fatigue. Victor Osimhen (COVID/shoulder) has been cleared late in the week and is available right away. 

Parma: Riccardo Gagliolo and Yann Karamoh are back after muscular problems. Botond Balogh is dealing tendinopathy and is questionable, Yordan Osorio, Vincent Laurini and Bruno Alves, all nursing different thigh injuries, remain out. Roberto Inglese is missing for personal reasons, Wylan Cyprien due to tonsillitis. Lautaro Valenti is out long-term.

Roma: Edin Dzeko, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pedro have been ruled out for minor ailments. Gianluca Mancini is disqualified. Davide Santon was available midweek, while Antonio Mirante and Riccardo Calafiori (thigh) are again in doubt. Federico Fazio and Juan Jesus are also been ruled out late. 

Sampdoria: Lorenzo Tonelli and Alex Ferrari will miss another one with thigh problems, while Manolo Gabbiadini is recovering from sports hernia surgery. 

Sassuolo: Vlad Chiriches is banned. Manuel Locatelli (bruised foot) and Jeremie Boga (thigh), while Mehdi Bourabia (thigh) and Domerico Berardi will stay on the shelf with a strain. 

Spezia: Luca Vignali was sent off last week. M’Bala Nzola is poised to miss another one with an ankle sprain. Salvador Ferrer will be out for significant time with a medium grade thigh strain. Jeroen Zoet was available in Coppa Italia after sitting out months with an adductor tear. Federico Mattiello (thigh) might need another week.

Torino: Federico Bonazzoli is expected back after missing one with muscle fatigue, while Nicolas N’Koulou is out with a sore hip muscle. Mergim Vojvoda is recovering from a shoulder sprain.

Udinese: Stefano Okaka and Fernando Forestieri are not expected to return this week from their thigh problems. Ignacio Pussetto and Mato Jajalo are likely out for the season with ACL tears. Walace has a sore back. 

Verona: Adrien Tameze was a late scratch last week with a thigh ailment and is questionable for this one, like Federico Ceccherini due to a sore tendon. Andrea Favilli has a shot to return from his strain, while Miguel Veloso (calf) and Ronaldo Vieira (thigh) are expected to remain sidelined.
