Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 23

Atalanta: Hans Hateboer will miss significant time as he is dealing with a foot microfracture. Joakim Maehle is questionable due to a knock, but he has been called up. 

Benevento: Gaetano Letizia has an outside chance of returning from his thigh strain. Riccardo Improta and Iago Falque have been ruled out. 

Bologna: Gary Medel (calf) and Paolo Faragò (thigh) are again doubtfyl with the problems that have sidelined them for multiple weeks. Mitchell Dijks is a late scratch due to muscle fatigue, Andrea Poli for the birth of his child. 

Cagliari: Radja Nainggolan is slightly banged up, but he made the squad list. Luca Ceppitelli is fit after skipping a couple of matches with a thigh issue. Ragnar Klavan, Riccardo Sottil (thigh) and Zito Luvumbo (thigh) instead remain on the mend.

Crotone: Salvatore Molina will be back in the squad list after a shoulder fracture, while Ahmad Benali (thigh) and Giuseppe Cuomo (hip) will be forced to miss another one. Koffi Djidji is on the mend due to a late contracture. 

Fiorentina: Franck Ribery and Antonio Barreca have not been called up for the Spezia game.

Genoa: Domenico Criscito turned his ankle in the previous game but he is progressing and could be able to play. Francesco Cassata and Alberto Paleari have been dealing with a thigh issue for a while now, while Davide Biraschi is rehabbing a shoulder sprain. Cristian Zapata is back on the shelf. 

Inter: Arturo Vidal has good chances of being available following a knee bruise. Stefano Sensi might have suffered a thigh injury in a midweek scrimmage.

Juventus: Adrien Rabiot is suspended. Paulo Dybala looked poised to return from his knee problem, but he is still in pain. Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci will be out for a couple of weeks with a calf and a thigh ailment respectively. Juan Cuadrado is shelved due to a thigh strain, Arthur with a lower leg contusion that led to a painful calcification.

Lazio: Wesley Hoedt and Manuel Lazzari are banned. Stefano Radu underwent sports-hernia surgery and the timetable to return from that is always murky. Thomas Strakosha and Luiz Felipe are out, Andrea Pereira is a late scratch. 

Milan: Ante Rebic (knee) played midweek, but they might have lost Ismael Bennacer to a thigh issue again. Brahim Diaz (thigh) should not be too far out from coming back. Mario Mandzukic picked up a problem late in the week and he is out. 

Napoli: Matteo Politano picked up a rib injury against Granada and is questionable. Diego Demme (thigh) is the only player on the shelf that has a shot to recuperate. Elseid Hysaj, Andrea Petagna and David Ospina are dealing with minor thigh problems, Hirving Lozano with a more significant one. Dries Mertens and Kostas Manolas are nursing significant ankle injuries, Kalidou Koulibaly and Faouzi Ghoulam have shaken off COVID, but only late in the week.

Parma: Vincent Laurini, Maxime Busi and Hernani will make their return after dealing with thigh injuries and Yordan Osorio is good to go as well despite an apparent knee injury last week. Roberto Inglese is not ready. Graziano Pellè is out of commission with a calf pull, Lautaro Valenti with a thigh strain.

Roma: Bryan Cristante subbed off in Europa League due to back pain Roger Ibanez for a thigh problem and they are both out. They will be very depleted in the back as Marash Kumbulla and Chris Smalling have not recovered from thier thigh issues and Davide Santon and Riccardo Calafiori are also banged up. Bryan Reynolds is in the United States for bureaucratic reasons. 

Sampdoria: back-ups Antonino La Gumina and Kaique Rocha are unavailable.

Sassuolo: Vlad Chiriches and Nicolas Schiappacasse have recovered, while Jeremie Boga and Mehdi Bourabia are out. 

Spezia: Simone Bastoni and Martin Erlic are suspended. M’Bala Nzola has technically recovered, but he will be given another full week of practice before being deployed. Salvador Ferrer and Roberto Piccoli have instead been called up following thigh strains. Diego Farias, Claudio Terzi and Federico Mattiello are out with the same kind of injury.

Torino: Antonio Sanabria shook off COVID but he is out. The team announced two more cases but did not disclose the names. Alessandro Buongiorno, Karol Linetty and Nicola Murru are absent from the squad list. 

Udinese: Gerard Deulofeu’s knee flared up and he is out, while Roberto Pereyra (thigh) has improved and will return after just one match. Fernando Forestieri instead remains sidelined. 

Verona: Federico Dimarco is suspended. Pawel Dawidowicz was a late scratch last week due to muscle fatigue and he has been shelved again. Eddie Salcedo and Andrea Favilli ìhave recovered from their thigh problems and Marco Benassi has been called up for the first time in the season after a massive calf injury. Nikola Kalinic will likely miss more than a month with a thigh strain, similar timetable for Ebrima Colley with a sprained MCL in the left knee. Federico Ceccherini (thigh) and Kevin Ruegg remain on the shelf.
