Serie A Best Fantasy XI – Round 26

Samir Handanovic (7 points): offenses generally bested back-lines in this one as just four teams managed to keep a clean sheet. The Inter goalkeeper was the busiest among those who were unbeaten, as he answered the ball on a close-range header in the first half and on a vicious shot on the near post in the second one.

Diogo Dalot (9 points): Theo Hernandez was a late scratch, but Milan still got a lot out of the left fullback position since the Manchester United loanee bagged a pretty goal, slaloming between defenders before slotting it in the top corner.

Milan Skriniar (9 points): Inter mostly won the crunch match with Atalanta through stingy defending and therefore it was very fitting that it was a center-back who decided it on the other end as well, as Skriniar was very alert in solving a scrum in the box with a surprisingly opportunistic finish.

Gianluca Mancini (8 points): the Roma center-back making the stat-sheet is no longer a surprise as he has hit the net four times already in the season. The header he buried against Genoa was one of his best ones as he literally soared into the air to meet the ball. It was also a seminal one as it turned out to be the game-winner in a hard-fought contest.

Jens Larsen (5 points): the Udinese fullback certainly had a lot to atone for after an inexplicable howler in the midweek round versus Milan. He bounced back with a strong performance motoring up and down the flank, but the opposing goalkeeper managed to parry away his two solid attempts to score.

Alexis Saelemaekers (7 points): the pacey right winger, who has generally been mostly an ancillary and work rate-oriented contributor up to this point, is starting to become a factor in the Milan offense, as he has dished two assists over the last three appearances. He teed up Dalot ahead of the second goal of the game Sunday.

Rade Krunic (6 points): he paved the way for a very gritty win for Milan by painting an incredible arch on a free kick from just outside the box, but significantly tilted towards the left. The fact that Marco Silvestri was a little out of position surely helped him out, but the trajectory was splendid.

Roberto Pereyra (6 points): the Argentinian midfielder put the finishing touches on an impressive Udinese win over Sassuolo by netting the easiest of goals, as Rodrigo De Paul gifted him a tasty ball that just needed to be gently tucked from point-blank range. He snapped out of a little scoring slump, moving to three goals in the season.

Adam Ounas (5 points): the slippery Algerian forward run the show against Torino as he sealed the deal late by weaving his way through several opponents in the box before finding the target with the most accurate and sweet little curled shot. He also linked up with Arkadiusz Reca prior to the teammates’ bullet shot to add as assist to his day.

Alvaro Morata (10 points): no Cristiano Ronaldo no problem for Juventus, as the Spaniard perfectly spearheaded the Juventus front-line against Lazio and assembled a clinical brace, finishing off a counter with an accurate strike right under the crossbar and converting a clutch penalty kick to round out the score.

Lorenzo Insigne (8 points): another super display for the Napoli’s little genius, who found the target twice with two surgical conclusions, the first one mere minutes into the contest from midrange, the other with a daisy-cutter that wrong-footed Lukas Skorupski after stripping an opponent deep into enemy territory. With his 13 goals, he is climbing the ladder among top strikers.
