Serie A Best Fantasy XI – Round 27

David Ospina (7 points): just two clean sheets in another round where offensive football prevailed. The Colombian international reclaimed his starting job over Alex Meret after an injury and put the finishing touches on a key victory for the Partenopei with an instinctual save on a point-blank header by Ante Rebic late in the game.

Mattia Bani (5 points): Parma surely picked an odd spot to blank the opponents for the first time in ages, as they stymied a potent offense like Roma’s. Bani has been a regular since joining in January and has been generally solid even though the Ducali’s back-line had underperformed as a whole in previous weeks.

Kalidou Koulibaly (5 points): a vintage performance for the Senegalese center-back, who has rarely played at an elite level thus far in the ongoing campaign, but showed up in the Milan clash. He did not have to do battle with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but his physicality helped him engulf Rafael Leao and the other forwards that tried to attack his area.

Martin Caceres (2 points): the low number of clean sheets opens up the opportunity for defenders that picked up offensive bonus to make the XI. Federico Dimarco scored but his team ended up on the losing end, so the spot goes to the Uruguayan jack-of-all-trades, who looked energetic against Benevento and was credited with an assist on the second Dusan Vlahovic goal.

Mario Pasalic (8 points): Atalanta surely could have used his contribution in previous months when he spent time on the shelf. He has rarely been a regular starter in Bergamo, but he has always been prolific when called upon and he reaffirmed it against Spezia, as he bagged two opportunistic goals with timely cuts in the box and tidy finishes in front of the goalie.

Mattias Svanberg (6 points): the Swedish midfielder had his best display of the season against Sampdoria, as he found the target with a robust and precise shot from midrange and set the table for the late goal by Roberto Soriano that killed off the Blucerchiati by perfectly slipping the ball to the teammate on a counter.

Darko Lazovic (6 points): Verona were pipped at the post but the Serbian winger confirmed the promising signs he had exhibited in the recent tilts, as he hit the net with a close-range shot on a back-door cut and also picked up an assist by finding Dimarco in the box. He has rounded back into shape and rediscovered last season’s fine form after some difficult months from a physical standpoint.

Hernani (5 points): Parma apparently like to have their top midfielders taking penalty kicks as, sans Juraj Kucka, the Brazilian stepped up to the plate and sealed the deal against Roma. The successful try further added to his fantasy resume, as he is now up to six goals in the season, with three coming over the past four rounds.

Dusan Vlahovic (14 points): the Serbian starlet assembled the best performance of his young career against Benevento, raining hellfire on the ill-fated enemies and making the stat-sheet three times. While the first two goals where routine finishes from inside the box, he rifled home a wonderful lefty piledriver right in the top corner to complete his hat-trick.

Cristiano Ronaldo (13 points): the criticism after the lackluster effort against Porto must have gotten to him as he was extremely aggressive right away versus Cagliari and put together a perfect hat-trick, scoring with both feet, once on a PK, and with a tremendous header. A magnificent performance that allowed him to pull away in the scorers’ chart.

Musa Barrow (6 points): Sinisa Mihajlovic tried to make him a full-fledged striker, but he always seems to have more success when he is on the left wing. He returned to the box-score after some time versus Sampdoria with a splendid strike from outside the box and also found teed up Svanberg with a sweet little pass on a quick action.
