Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 31

Atalanta: Matteo Pessina shook off COVID and will be assessed in practice after missing a week. Hans Hateboer is not far off from coming back from his foot microfracture, but it will not happen this week. Cristian Romero is suspended.

Returning: Pessina; Missing: Romero, Hateboer. 

Benevento: Alessandro Tuia is out with yellow-card accumulation. Gabriele Moncini has a bruised ankle. Daam Foulon is out with an unspecified injury.

Missing: Tuia, Moncini, Foulon. 

Bologna: Lorenzo De Silvestri and Andreas Skov Olsen picked up minor thigh problems in the past game, but they could be good to go. Takehiro Tomiyasu will be a late call due to calf soreness. Federico Santander (ACL tear), Gary Medel (calf strain) and Aaron Hickey (shoulder surgery) are out with long-term issues.

Missing: Tomiyasu, Santander, Medel, Hickey. 

Cagliari: Luca Ceppitelli, Alessandro Deiola and Riccardo Sottil (thigh strain) are back, while Matteo Tramoni remains out. Alessio Cragno in in the COVID protocol.

Returning: Ceppitelli, Deiola, Sottil; Missing: Tramoni, Cragno. 

Crotone: Ahmad Benali will miss three weeks with an ankle sprain. Luca Marrone will be out for at least a week for a calf issue. Samuel Di Carmine and Emmanuel Riviere are banged up might be called up.

Fiorentina: Igor should be available this week following a severe thigh strain, while Aleksandar Kokorin is iffier with the same issue. Gaestano Castrovilli has been called up but he has a sore adductor and might not make the XI.

Returning: Ribery, Pulgar, Igor; Missing: Kokorin. 

Genoa: Domenico Criscito is suspended. Lennart Czyborra is likely to return after sitting out one game with a knee sprain. Davide Zappacosta suffered a thigh problem and, while the tests ruled out strains, he will be out this week. Luca Pellegrini is shelved with a significant muscular injury.

Returning: Czyborra; Missing: Zappacosta, Criscito, Pellegrini, Marchetti. 

Inter: Ivan Perisic is set to re-join the squad list after missing time with muscle fatigue, while Aleksandar Kolarov (back pain) and Arturo Vidal (knee soreness) are unavailable.

Returning: Perisic; Missing: Vidal, Kolarov. 

Juventus: Leonardo Bonucci has shaken off COVID, so the only absentee is Federico Bernardeschi. Cristiano Ronaldo is out with a flexor injury.

Retunring: Bonucci, Missing: Ronaldo, Bernardeschi. 

Lazio: Felipe Caicedo is disqualified. Gonzalo Escalante, Thomas Strakosha and Lucas Leiva missed some practice time late in the week, but the starter is expected to feature. Luiz Felipe might return next week from ankle surgery.

Milan: Zlatan Ibrahimovic was red carded last week. Alessio Romagnoli is slated to be available after a calf strain, while Davide Calabria will need more time to return from a meniscus tear.

Napoli: Hirving Lozano is out due to yellow-card accumulation. David Ospina suffered a thigh pull and is poised to miss multiple matches.

Parma: Riccardo Gagliolo is disqualified. Valentin Mihaila (thigh soreness), Simon Sohm (ankle sprain) and Juan Brunetta (thigh tendinopathy) have will return from their injuries, while Yann Karamoh will have to wait a little longer. Hernani is shelved with a minor muscular ailment, Andrea Conti with a calf contracture. Wylan Cyprien underwent surgery to repair a torn tendon and will have to rehab for three months. Roberto Inglese remains iffy with ankle soreness. Hans Nicolussi Caviglia and Joshua Zirkzee are out for the season.

Returning: Mihaila, Sohm, Brunetta. 

Missing: Conti, Gagliolo, Hernani, Cyprien, Inglese, Nicolussi Caviglia, Zirkzee. 

Roma: Lorenzo Pellegrini is suspended. Leonardo Spinazzola did not suffer a major thigh injury but will sit out another, while Stephan El Shaarawy is nursing a strain. Chris Smalling continues to be bothered by thigh and knee soreness.

Missing: Pellegrini, Spinazzola, El Shaarawy, Smalling. 

Sampdoria: Albin Ekdal (thigh pull) and Ernesto Torregrossa will not return in this round. Fabio Quagliarella is available but might not start due to a bruised calf.

Returning: Silva; Missing: Ekdal, Torregrossa. 

Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi and Gregoire Defrel are more likely to be back from their thigh issues than Francesco Caputo from his back pain. Kaan Ayhan has COVID. Manuel Locatelli is dinged up and might be ruled out.

Returning: Berardi, Defrel; Missing: Caputo, Ayhan. 

Spezia: Martin Erlic is questionable due to ankle soreness, Andrej Galabinov for a nose injury, but both have been called up. Nahuel Estevez will make his return after Coronavirus, Riccardo Saponara following a foot sprain. Cristiano Dell’Orco (muscle fatigue), Juan Ramos (COVID) and Federico Mattiello (thigh strain) will be given more time.

Returning: Estevez, Saponara; Missing: Dell’Orco, Ramos, Mattiello. 

Torino: Wilfried Singo (thigh pull) and Lyanco (back pain) are expected to come back, while Salvatore Sirigu is going through the Coronavirus protocol.

Udinese: Gerard Deulofeu underwent surgery to remove a torn meniscus and will try to return for the final matches. Bram Nuytinck was available but unusable last week due to a thigh ailment and should be fine for this one.

Missing: Deulofeu, Pussetto, Prodl, Jajalo. 

Verona: Andrea Favilli and Mert Cetin are back after missing a pair of matches. Rolando Vieira (thigh strain) and Marco Benassi (calf strain) remain sidelined. Nikola Kalinic and Giangiacomo Magnani are late scratches. Miguel Veloso needs neck surgery.
