Ligue 1 picks of the week

With plenty still to play for as we hit the Ligue 1 run in, here are the players we tip to make a splash in the 33rd round of action.

Anthony Lopes, Lyon – 51 points

The French-born Portuguese international sees his name in our picks for the weekend for the third consecutive week as his side face an inconsistent Amiens.

With 12 clean sheets to his name, Lopes could well be in line for some additional points come the weekend.

Joris Gnagnon, Rennes – 40 points

The Rennes academy product has been a valuable member of the Rennes defence in what has been an impressive campaign for the side.

With nine clean sheets to his name, the 21-year-old may well be a target for some of the league’s established top clubs come the summer.

Adil Rami, Marseille – 54 points

Adil Rami is may now be the rightful possessor of ‘veteran’ status but he remains in the midst of a stellar campaign.

With 13 clean sheets over the season, his form will be vital to Marseille getting a result against a struggling Troyes side.

Hiroki Sakai, Marseille – 45 points

The Japanese full back has not earned the plaudits he’s deserved due to the exploits of his colleague Rami, but he has proven pivot to the Marseille back line since his arrival from the Bundesliga.

With 13 clean sheets and three assists, Sakai is capable of delivering an attacking threat as well as being defensively sound.

Jérémy Sorbon, Guingamp – 27 points

A stalwart at the back for Guingamp this season, the 34-year-old has features in 23 games for his side as they continue a solid campaign.

With Metz footing the Ligue 1 table, the Frenchman will be hoping to add to the eight clean sheets he’s secured this campaign.

Alassane Plea, Nice – 71 points

Nice have seen a return to form in recent weeks and could be on course to what would be a respectable finish to their campaign following a dour start.
