England once again head into a major tournament with lofty ambitions. The Three Lions have continuously failed to live up to expectations in recent tournaments. However, Gareth Southgate’s side consists of some exciting youth talent, and they are coming on the back of an impressive qualifying campaign.
England remained undefeated in the qualifying campaign and comfortably won their group ahead of opponents such as Slovakia and Scotland. They find themselves in a relatively easier group in Russia and should qualify for the last-16. However, to go any further in the tournament, England would need their stars to shine in Russia. Tottenham striker Harry Kane is the obvious star player in Southgate’s side, but Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling is another name who can make a difference in the Cup.
