EPL Weekend Picks – Round 9

Ross Barkley Chelsea

The ninth week of the 2018-19 Premier League season features one of the biggest games of the campaign so far, Chelsea v Manchester United, while Liverpool travel to Huddersfield and Arsenal host Leicester. Let’s take a look at 11 players who you should consider adding to your EPL Fantasy team before the weekend.

GK – Ederson (Manchester City)
Every EPL Fantasy team needs a reliable scorer of points in goal, and you can’t go wrong with Ederson. The Manchester City goalkeeper has recorded 37 points this season – more than any other player in his position in the Premier League – and there’s a good chance he’ll add to that tally at home to Burnley.

DF – Willy Boly (Wolves)
Another set of weekend picks, another recommendation for a Wolves defender. The newly promoted side are flying this season, conceding just six goals in eight league games, and Willy Boly has played a huge part. With Watford visiting Molineux on Saturday, he could easily build on his 22 points so far in 2018-19.

DF – Nacho Monreal (Arsenal)
It didn’t seem possible that we’d include an Arsenal defender in these selections after they conceded eight goals in their first four league games. Since then, however, they have kept two clean sheets and Nacho Monreal has picked up 12 points in his last three games. At 8.50m, he could be worth a gamble ahead of the visit of Leicester.

DF – Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)
If you haven’t got a Liverpool defender in your team yet, this weekend is the best time to select one. Andrew Robertson, valued at an affordable 7.00m, has 29 points this season and is likely to play the full 90 minutes against low-scoring Huddersfield on Saturday.

MD – Anthony Knockaert (Brighton)
We’re going to focus on midfielders with a bargain price in this week’s selections, starting with Anthony Knockaert. The Brighton man has one goal and three assists from eight starts this season, earning 10 points, and he only costs 6.50m.

MD – James Milner (Liverpool)
James Milner has overcome an injury problem and is expected to start for Liverpool against Huddersfield on Saturday. He’s also available for just 6.50m, which isn’t bad considering he’s earned 16 points this season.

MD – Ross Barkley (Chelsea)
If you put one person in your team from this list, make it Ross Barkley. The midfielder featured in our Premier League Best XI last week after earning eight points against Southampton. He costs an unbelievably generous 5.00m, so get him snapped up ahead of Saturday’s game against Manchester United.

MD – Felipe Anderson (West Ham)
EPL Fantasy is all about the stats, so Felipe Anderson’s tally of one assist and one goal from eight games might not look that impressive on paper. However, his performances recently, especially against Manchester United, tell a different story. If you fancy him to chip in with more assists and goals soon, he’ll cost you 8.00m.

MD – Josh Murphy (Cardiff)
Josh Murphy has been in and out of the Cardiff XI this season but he now looks to have nailed down a starting spot following his recent goal against Burnley. He costs just 2.00m (repeat: 2.00m!!) and has eight points so far in 2018-19.

ST – Danny Ings (Southampton)
Continuing our theme of cut-price players who you should consider, you’re not going to find much better value-per-points than Danny Ings. The Southampton striker has scored three goals in six starts, picking up 11 points, and he only costs 3.50m.

ST – Josh King (Bournemouth)
Callum Wilson and Josh King have been scoring goals and recording assists for fun this season. We’ve suggested Wilson in our weekend picks before, but King is the cheaper of the two (7.50m) and he has the same number of points (17) as his strike partner. It’s Bournemouth vs. Southampton on Saturday, so expect goals.
