EPL Best XI – Ross Barkley leads the way

Ross Barkley Chelsea

The 10th weekend of the 2018-19 Premier League season saw Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea maintain their unbeaten starts, while Arsenal’s winning streak ended with a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace. Let’s take a look at the top EPL Fantasy points scorers from the weekend’s games…

GK: Ben Foster, Watford – seven points
Ben Foster gets the nod in goal after helping Watford to a 3-0 win against Huddersfield on Saturday. He has kept two clean sheets in a row, earning an impressive 14 points in the process.

DF: Bruno, Brighton – seven points
Brighton beat Wolves 1-0 on Saturday to record one of the best results of the weekend. Bruno was key to the victory, setting up Glenn Murray’s goal, as well as helping his side keep a clean sheet.

DF: Adam Masina, Watford – six points
Adam Masina has only made two starts for Watford this season, both in the last week, but he already has two clean sheets to his name. He also set up one of the goals against Huddersfield, earning himself six points.

DF: Marcos Alonso, Chelsea – five points
Another week, another Best XI appearance for Marcos Alonso. The Spaniard wasn’t directly involved in any of Chelsea’s goals in the 4-0 win over Burnley, but he still gets into this week’s team after yet another impressive showing.

MD: Ross Barkley, Chelsea – 10 points
We’ve recommended Ross Barkley in our Weekend Picks in each of the last two weeks, and the Chelsea midfielder continues to repay our faith. He scored one goal and set up two more in the victory against Burnley, earning a weekend-high 10 points.

MD: Luka Milivojevic, Crystal Palace – eight points
When Crystal Palace get a penalty, you better believe Luka Milivojevic is going to step up to take it. The midfielder scored two goals for Palace in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal, both from the penalty spot, to pick up eight points.

MD: Sadio Mane, Liverpool – eight points
Sadio Mane hadn’t scored in four Premier League games heading into Saturday’s match against Cardiff. However, he more than made up for that with two goals – and, more importantly, eight points – in the 4-1 victory.

MD: Mohamed Salah, Liverpool – eight points
The early-season demise of Mohamed Salah has been greatly exaggerated. The Liverpool man scored one goal and set up another two in the win over Cardiff. Eden Hazard is the only midfielder with more EPL Fantasy points than Salah this season.

MD: Riyad Mahrez, Manchester City – six points
Riyad Mahrez scored the only goal of the game in Manchester City’s win over Tottenham at Wembley on Monday. He now has 28 points in 2018-19 – only five midfielders have more.

ST: Callum Wilson, Bournemouth – eight points
It goes to show how good Callum Wilson has been this season that only two strikers – Sergio Aguero and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – have more points than him after 10 games. The Bournemouth man scored two goals in the 3-0 win at Fulham.

ST: Gerard Deulofeu, Watford – four points
It wasn’t a good weekend for regular goalscorers, so Gerard Deulofeu creeps into our Best XI despite only playing 65 minutes against Huddersfield. He scored a well-taken goal in the 3-0 win to pick up his first points of the season.
