Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 24

Juventus: Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini have been called up, while Douglas Costa remains out with a quad problem. Daniele Rugani has a sore thigh, but he is in the squad list. Alex Sandro is suspended.

Napoli: Dries Mertens and Simone Verdi missed the midweek Europa League clash due to a contracture and a bruised knee respectively, but they have been able to recover. Raul Albiol underwent a clean-up surgery on the patellar tendon of the left knee and will miss six-to-eight weeks. Mario Rui suffered a thigh pull and will be sidelined this week.

Inter: Sime Vrsaljko had season-ending knee surgery. Balde Keita’s recovery from a thigh strain has had a hiccup and he will not be available this week. Mauro Icardi has a sore knee and will not be called up this week. 

Milan: Mattia Caldara is inching closer to a full recovery from an Achilles and calf tear, but he has not been called up this week.

Atalanta: Berat Djimsiti is a little banged up but he could still be at his coach’s disposal.

Roma: Kostas Manolas returned in Champions League from a groin inflammation, while Robin Olsen got past his calf ailment. Diego Perotti (calf) and Cengiz Under (thigh) have a solid chance to be in the squad list. Rick Karsdorp pulled his thigh and will miss the next one, while Patrik Schick’s thigh injury is more severe and he could be on the mend for 20 days.

Lazio: Simone Inzaghi will have a skeleton crew at this disposal since Marco Parolo (ankle), Luiz Felipe, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (thigh), Luis Alberto (thigh), Wallace (thigh), Jordan Lukaku (knee) and Bastos (thigh) have been ruled out. Lucas Leiva has a sore ankle. Ciro Immobile should be healthy enough to feature.

Torino: Koffi Djidji sprained his knee again, while Vittorio Parigini was out last week with a thigh issue.

Sampdoria: Edgar Barreto has a shot to return, while Gianluca Caprari has a long way to go due to a fibula fracture. Gaston Rodriguez and Jakub Jankto have been ruled out with undisclosed injuries.

Fiorentina: German Pezzella suffered a grade 2 MCL sprain and will miss six-to-eight weeks, while Kevin Mirallas will be out for about a month with a calf strain. Vincent Laurini is trying to return from a toe injury.

Sassuolo: the Neroverdi will be again without Marlon and Lorenzo Sernicola. Domerico Berardi is under the weather.

Parma: Riccardo Gagliolo is suspended, while Francisco Sierralta (thigh) and Federico Dimarco (abdomen) remain sidelined. Matteo Scozzarella picked up a calf problem. Bruno Alves is dinged up but he is the squad list.

Genoa: Daniel Bessa (back) and Antonio Sanabria are a little banged up but there is not much worry about their availability, while Luca Mazzitelli, Stefano Sturaro (Achilles) and Andrea Favilli (thigh) are expected to be out again.

SPAL: Simone Missiroli is disqualified, while newcomer Marko Jankovic is recovering from sports hernia surgery. Pasquale Schiattarella was out last week with muscle fatigue.

Cagliari: Paolo Faragò is fatigued and Filippo Romagna is dealing with patellar tendon soreness, so they are both at risk for the next match. Fabrizio Cacciatore (calf), Cyril Thereau (thigh) and Valter Birsa (forearm fracture) will not return this week.

Udinese: Rodrigo De Paul sprained his ankle in practice and could be limited on Sunday. Sebastien De Maio is suspended. Valon Behrami was out last week with what was later diagnosed as a biceps femoris strain and will be on the mend again. Svante Ingelsson returned last week seven months after an ACL tear. Antonin Barak’s timetable remains uncertain due to his bad back. William Troost-Ekong is fatigued.

Bologna: Rodrigo Palacio is disqualified, while Giancarlo Gonzalez is dealing with a thigh injury. Lyanco (hip) and Riccardo Orsolini (calf) will stay on the shelf.

Empoli: Antonino La Gumina has recovered from a thigh strain and Bartlomiej Dragowski should be available too. Leonardo Capezzi is iffier.

Frosinone: Nicolò Brighenti has recuperated, while Lorenzo Ariaudo (ankle), Stefan Simic (calf) and Paolo Ghiglione (thigh) have not been called up again. Federico Dionisi is getting closer after tearing his ACL in August.

Chievo: Fabio Depaoli subbed off in the last game, but he could be able to return. Nicolas Frey suffered a thigh strain and will miss two or three weeks. Sergio Pellissier and Nenad Tomovic are not expected back this week from their thigh strains, while Marco Andreolli is available after a knee sprain.
