EPL Best XI – Week 27

zahaWith the title race continuing to hot up, this weekend’s Premier League action saw contenders Liverpool going toe-to-toe with rivals Manchester United, while champions Manchester City took the weekend off from league action to battle Chelsea in Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final. At the lower end of the table, Newcastle hosted Huddersfield in what could be described as a relegation six-pointer. With that said, let us take a look at which players performed the best for their clubs over the past few days.

GK – Martin Dubravka (Newcastle United)
The Slovakian stopper was the only Premier League goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in Saturday’s action as the Toon Army marched towards three points against fellow strugglers Huddersfield at St. James’ Park.

DF – Isaac Hayden (Newcastle United)
Hayden joins several fellow Newcastle players in this week’s list given that their defensive performance was the best in the league. His seven points come from providing an assist on top of contributing towards the clean sheet.

DF - Florian Lejeune (Newcastle United)
Once again, Lejeune is in there based on earning among the most fantasy points from Premier League defenders. The Frenchman earned five for the clean sheet, though didn’t quite manage as much at the other end as Hayden.

DF – Issa Diop (West Ham)
Diop scored in of West Ham’s three goals as they saw off the challenge of visitors Fulham 3-1. That goal earned Diop four points for the weekend, just behind Lejeune.

DF – DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle United)
Yet another Newcastle player to go on this list, Yedlin’s four points came from keeping the clean sheet (five points), though he did also lose a point for being booked during the match.

MF - Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)
Zaha was instrumental as the Eagles came away from the King Power Stadium with an impressive 4-1 win at Leicester City. Zaha earned himself eight points, having scored two of Palace’s goals.

MF - Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Arsenal)
The former Man Utd star may have only played 48 minutes of the Gunners’ 2-0 win at home against Southampton, but he contributed a goal and an assist to the cause ensuring him a place on this week’s list.

MF - Luka Milivojevic (Crystal Palace)
Milivojevic scored one of Palace’s other goals in that 4-1 win at Leicester, earning himself – and his fantasy managers – four points. That takes his season tally to 42 – a solid total given Palace’s hit-and-miss campaign so far.

MF - James McArthur (Crystal Palace)
Rounding off the trio of Palace midfielders who bossed things on Saturday, McArthur earned three points having provided two assists in the game at Leicester. He did get booked, however, costing him one of those four points.

ST - Gerard Deulofeu (Watford)
The former Barcelona forward was a happy man indeed after Watford’s 5-1 win at Cardiff. He contributed a hattrick to the cause, and set up one of the other two goals to earn himself 16 points. Not bad for a day’s work!

ST – Troy Deeney (Watford)
Given Watford’s great showing up front it is perhaps unsurprising that Deulofeu’s striker partner Deeney takes the other striker spot on this week’s list. He scored the other two goals and set one of his partner’s up as well, giving him a total of 10 points for the weekend.
