Serie A Fantasy Recap – Round Two

Results: Juventus emerged victorious in a wild bout with Napoli with a big assist from the opponents, while Roma and Lazio shared the spoils in an equally hard-fought Derby. Inter and Torino are the only two other teams at six points, as the Nerazzurri squeezed past Cagliari, while the Granata grabbed a quality victory against Atalanta. Milan found their first W scraping by Brescia. Genoa defeated Fiorentina, Sassuolo ragdolled Sampdoria, Bologna downed SPAL in the final minutes and Verona escaped Lecce with three valuable points.

Confirmations: Domenico Berardi demolished the Blucerchiati with an astounding hat-trick, while Duvan Zapata had a brace with two of his customary gems full of physicality and quickness. Three of the four players that hit the net in both rounds are a little out left field: Christian Kouame, Erick Pulgar, Aleksandar Kolarov and Romelu Lukaku, the only predictable one. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain opened their seasonal tallies and the pair seems to be working pretty well, while Hirving Lozano scored on his debut, like he had done his previous two stops. Few others of the most anticipated strikers delivered: Lautaro Martinez, Gervinho and Roberto Inglese; Fabio Quagliarella at least got a consolation goal out of an dismal night. Aleksandar Kolarov became the most prolific defender out of the top five leagues in 2019 with his successful penalty against Lazio, but Luis Alberto knotted the match later on. Other semi-popular fantasy players to find the target were Hakan Calhanoglu, Joao Pedro and Hamed Traore.

Guess who is back: Alex Berenguer made the most of some absences up front for Torino to can a lovely goal.

Surprise scorers: a tremendous round for defenders that are somewhat regulars in the stat sheets such as Kevin Bonifazi, Kostas Manolas, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Armando Izzo, while Riccardo Gagliolo and Cristian Zapata do not pop us as frequently. Danilo found the target on his second Italian touch and Matteo Pessina sneaked one past the goalie.

Flops of the round: stuff of nightmares for Kalidou Koulibaly on Saturday night. Fiorentina were pretty flat in Genoa after last week’s offensive explosion. Sampdoria’s showing has already been documented, while Atalanta were again too lax in the back.

Clutch goal: after several attempts, Roberto Soriano finally broke through with a header in the stoppage time in the Emilian Derby between Bologna and SPAL to give the Rossoblù a pretty deserved win.
