Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round Three

Atalanta: Timothy Castagne will at least be called up after missing a month due to a torn meniscus, while Rafael Toloi and José-Luis Palomino both picked up a minor thigh injuries. There is more optimism about the Argentinian defender. 

Bologna: Danilo suffered a thigh strain and will miss at least a pair of matches.

Brescia: Ernesto Torregrossa hurt his quad against Milan and will likely miss few matches. Bruno Martella, who subbed early too, escaped without major calf complications but will still miss this one. Giangiacomo Magnani has not recovered from his thigh problem, while Andrea Cista is good to go after hurting his hand. Mario Balotelli is still suspended. Emanuel Ndoj needs to more time to return from ankle surgery.

Cagliari: Radja Nainggolan sustained a calf injury and, while the team has not issued an official statement on the matter yet, he is expected to miss multiple games. Alessio Cragno ended up undergoing surgery to stabilize the right shoulder and will be sidelined for four months. Fabrizio Cacciatore resumed practicing regularly after missing the first two games.

Fiorentina: Marco Benassi has a bruised knee and Pedro came to Italy while dealing with a thigh problem; they have both been ruled out.

Genoa: Lukas Lerager had a small hiccup in practice but there is not much concern. Riccardo Saponara will be a full go after a thigh ailment, while Francesco Cassata remains on the mend with a broken toe.

Inter: Stefan De Vrij has shaken off his problem and therefore there are no absentees.

Juventus: Mattia De Sciglio suffered a mild thigh strain that will keep him out for a game or two. Mario Mandzukic has been spared for transfer market reasons. Aaron Ramsey has been called up after missing the frist two contests. 

Lazio: Luiz Felipe sprained his left ankle and is out for Sunday. Jordan Lukaku will be called up after spending a lot of time rehabbing from knee tendinopathy.

Lecce: Giannelli Imbula is recovering from a hip injury that will likely delay his debut. Cristian Dell’Orco is banged up as well and has been ruled out by the coach. Biagio Meccariello, Riccardo Fiamozzi and Simone Lo Faso are not ready after missing time before the break as well.

Milan: Theo Hernandez is ready to contribute after skipping the first two games with an ankle sprain, ditto for Lucas Biglia after a thigh strain.

Napoli: Arkadiusz Milik spent a lot of time rehabbing from a thigh/groin injury and continues to be sidelinedLorenzo Insigne subbed off at half time against Juventus, but his muscular issue is minor and has made the squad list. Elseid Hysaj is out with muscle fatigue.

Parma: Alberto Grassi has a sore knee, Matteo Scozzarella is fatigued and Juraj Kucka picked up a hamstring problem while with his national team: the ailments are not significant but they will be sidelined this week. 

Roma: Cengiz Under suffered a significant thigh (biceps femoris) strain and he is expected to miss five weeks, joining Davide Zappacosta and Diego Perotti on the disabled list. Leonardo Spinazzola has solved a thigh problem. Chris Smalling endured a small thigh problem and will be on the shelf this week. 

Sampdoria: Ronaldo Vieira is suspended and Gonzalo Maroni has not healed from his ankle sprain. Jakub Jankto has been ruled out due to an undisclosed problem. 

Sassuolo: Rogerio needs more time to come back from a meniscus tear. Mehdi Bourabia and Francesco Magnanelli are dealing with muscular issues and have not been selected. 

SPAL: Etrit Berisha is dealing with some muscle fatigue.

Torino: Iago Falque (ankle) and Simone Zaza (knee) have recovered from their sprains and Lyanco is available after a thigh problem as well. Falque could miss another one though as he is scheduled to play with the Primavera in the weekend. Cristian Ansaldi and Simone Edera stay on the shelf. Nicolas N’Koulou has apologized for pushing to leave and refusing to play, but he will be reinstated only from next week. Sasa Lukic is dealing with a sore calf and is questionable. 

Udinese: Hidde Ter Avest continues nursing a patellar tendon issue. Stefano Okaka is not ready to play and William Troost-Ekong has been ruled out in advance as well. 

Verona: Daniele Bessa suffered a thigh (adductor) strain during the break and will be sidelined for a couple of weeks. Emmanuel Badu (lungs) remains without a real timetable. Samuel Di Carmine has recuperated from his thigh problem. Salvatore Bocchetti will miss time with a calf strain.
