Round 9 of the 2019/20 Serie A season is upon us after what was an exhilarating, goal-packed round 8 last weekend off the international break.
Lazio and Atalanta played to a six-goal thriller in which the former overturned a three-goal deficit to pick up a point at home. Sassuolo and Inter saw seven fly into the net while Parma ambushed a free-falling Genoa side 5-1 which resulted in Aurelio Andreazzoli’s sacking and Thiago Motta’s hiring.
If last weekend was any indication of where this season is trending, then surely more drama lurks around the corner this matchday.
Here are five selections for you to consider bolstering your fantacalcio roster with.
Lautaro Martínez (ATT, Inter, Value 24.90) – The Argentine has been among the many Inter players to enjoy hot starts to the Serie A season, as he has already tallied four in the league and an additional two in the UEFA Champions League. Martínez is proving week in and week out the talent and hype is real, and last week’s two goal performance in the 3-4 win over Sassuolo support this. Averaging nearly 4 shots per game, the 22-year old’s proven penchant for offensive contributions means he is currently a very safe and reliable insert to your roster, including this weekend against Parma. 24.90? Well worth it when you consider all the elements to his game.
Paulo Dybala (ATT, Juventus, Value 19.10) – Maurizio Sarri’s rotated his attacking options a bit more frequently than expected, bar Cristiano Ronaldo of course who is cemented into the XI. But, by the looks of Dybala’s performances this season, it must be extremely difficult to keep him on the bench in certain matches since he has shown time and time again there is harmony between him and Ronaldo up front. The 25-year old rescued Juventus midweek with a two goal effort against Lokomotiv Moscow that was reminiscent of his early days at the club when he was the focal point of the attack under Max Allegri. A visit to Lecce on the weekend could mean Dybala sits the bench, but even if he comes on, there is an opportunity for positive contribution in what has a potentially lopsided outcome in favor of the Bianconeri.
Domenico Berardi (ATT, Sassuolo, Value 23.20) – It is hard to believe that he is still only just 25 years young, but Domenico Berardi is on his way to having his best statistical season of his career. Bagging 6 goals from a whopping average of 5.17 per game, the Sassuolo star is almost singlehandedly keeping the club from the bottom three and will likely play a large role in whether or not they can climb back into the top half of the table. Berardi is currently a man on fire at the moment and should be a strong play ahead of the Neroverdi’s visit to Verona which has the makings of yet another standout performance as he aims to convince NT boss Roberto Mancini of a recall.
Luis Muriel (ATT, Atalanta, Value 4.70) – No Duvan? No problem. Zapata’s injury thrusted his fellow countryman Luis Muriel into the limelight last week when he scored a five minute brace to lead Atalanta’s first half assault of Lazio, giving him five goals on the season from just 247 minutes (that is an eye-opening one tally every 49 minutes). With the big Colombian Zapata unlikely to be fit for the home match against Udinese this weekend, the 28-year old is a fantastic play.
Dejan Kulusevski (MID, Parma, Value 19.90) – One of the early season breakout stars, teenager Dejan Kulusevski has certainly turned heads at the Tardini Stadium thus far. In his eight appearances for the Crociati, the Swedish international has scored twice and assisted an impressive five goals, good for first in the league ahead of names like Gervinho, Lorenzo Insigne and Luis Alberto. Whether or not he maintains the number one spot is irrelevant because it is overtly obvious the 19-year old midfielder can make things happen going forward and that plays in any top five league. Kulusevski is a must start at this rate and he has the chance to truly propel himself forward to a different level this weekend at the San Siro versus 2nd place Inter. 19.90 for his productive self is a safe investment to make.
