Serie A Round 13 Fantacalcio Player Trends: Stock Up

Another international break came and went. Italy made it a perfect 10 wins from 10 matches in 2020 UEFA Euro qualifying with a battering of Armenia 9-1 to put a bow on their campaign, while Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey scored a brace to ensure Wales’ spot next summer in a 2-0 win against Hungary.

While there are still nations battling it out for several remaining spots in the tournament, it is time to redirect our attention back on the club football scene we love so much and bring you those to consider adding to your fantacalcio roster ahead of this Serie A round.

Here are five players to consider this weekend.

Joaquin Correa (MID, Lazio, Value 21.26) – Ciro Immobile’s gaudy goal tally has rightfully garnered most of the attention in the Italian capital thus far, but we would be remiss to not shed light on the impressive performances of Correa. The Argentine has always boasted a bag full of talent, and we have seen all of it on full display for Lazio. In his last five Serie A matches, the 25 year old has scored five goals, tagging along with Immobile and Alberto to bring the Biancocelesti into third. Simone Inzaghi’s side visits Sassuolo on Sunday, making Correa a solid play as he continues to find the back of the net.

Wojciech Szczesny (GK, Juventus, Value 13.19) – Poland’s number one has been completely reborn since leaving England for Italy, refining his game and cutting down on the errors that led to his Arsenal exit. On the surface, it may seem simple to play behind a defence like Juve’s, but with all of the injuries in the back, ‘Woj’ has been asked to raise his game and perform like the elite keeper he is. Off the back of a cleansheet against Milan prior to the break, look for the former Roma man to have a real say in the outcome on Saturday as the Bianconeri travel to Bergamo to face Atalanta.

Nicolò Zaniolo (MID, Roma, Value 13.56) – Fresh off a two-goal performance vs Armenia, Zaniolo enters round 13 in fine form and riding a wave of confidence, which bodes extremely well for Paulo Fonseca and Roma’s match vs Brescia. Prior to the Parma defeat before the break, Zaniolo had scored in three straight matches, leading us to believe he is beginning to warm up as cold winter temperatures lurk around the corner. With Brescia sitting 20th and showing very few signs of hope to climb out of the cellar, loading your roster with Giallorossi players could be a wise approach. Stick the Italian youngster in your lineup with confidence this weekend.

Jeremie Boga (MID, Sassuolo, Value 13.93) – Domenico Berardi’s stolen most of the attention within the Sassuolo squad through the first dozen matches this season, but it is time to give Jeremie Boga some love as well. The 22 year old France international has scored 3 goals and assisted 1, while also averaging 3.8 dribbles per game as a dangerous attacking outlet to play in space. Boga has not quite had that standout, defining performance just yet that puts him into the mainstream, but hosting Lazio this weekend could start to change that. 13.93 may appear steep considered the long list of options with similar values, but Boga should be at the very least observed closely if you aren’t completely sold just yet.

Ismaël Bennacer (MID, AC Milan, Value 4.76) – Milan certainly aren’t in the position they had hoped for through 12 rounds, but there is no denying that new boss Stefano Pioli has begun playing the proper players to yield an overall better performance from his squad, like Bennacer. The 2019 AFCON Player of the Tournament had to battle with veteran Lucas Biglia early on in the campaign, yet he has now successfully surpassed the Argentine in the pecking order and is showing noticeable growth week to week. Milan host Napoli on Saturday at the San Siro, looking to build off their inspired team effort in the 1-0 defeat to Juventus a few weeks ago. The 21-year old is available at a very affordable value of 4.76, allowing you to easily plug him in without compromising on an expensive attack or midfield.
