Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 15

Atalanta: Duvan Zapata flew back to Sevilla after further checks on his thigh and now it is unlikely that he will return before January. Marten De Roon and Simon Kjaer are questionable because of knee soreness and muscle fatigue respectively.

Bologna: Gary Medel is suspended. Mitchell Dijks underwent further tests on his injured second toe and he will be sidelined for two-for-three months. Roberto Soriano is unlikely to be back from his knee edema. Mattia Bani, Blerin Dzemaili and Ladislav Krejci picked up some dings and bruises in the Coppa Italia game: the left-back did not make the squad list, while the two centre-backs are available.

Brescia: Jesse Joronen is dealing with an ankle sprain, Mario Balotelli with back pain and they are both in doubt for Sunday.

Cagliari: Robin Olsen will continue serving his suspension. Luca Ceppitelli is on his way to recovering from plantar fasciitis, but he is not totally out of the woods yet. Valter Birsa will miss another one with a hand fracture. Nahitan Nandez is being evaluated for a foot problem despite being called up, while Lucas Castro is out because of fatigue.

Fiorentina: Federico Chiesa should be able to play this week after missing two matches with an adductor ailment. Franck Ribery will miss some time with an ankle sprain. German Pezzella (face) will remain on the shelf.

Genoa: Paolo Ghiglione subbed off last week but should be able to recuperate, while Lukas Lerager is out again. Riccardo Saponara will join him on the stands with an ankle injury. Cristian Zapata suffered a thigh (adductor) strain and will likely come back in January.

Inter: Roberto Gagliardini has been ruled out because of a foot sprain. Stefano Sensi took a specialistic visit on his injured thigh and he too is poised for a 2020 return.

Juventus: Sami Khedira underwent knee clean-up surgery and will be on the mend for three months. Aaron Ramsey will miss this one due muscle fatigue, joining Douglas Costa on the disabled list.

Lazio: Adam Marusic (thigh),  Patric (calf), Valon Berisha (thigh) and Jordan Lukaku (knee) will sit out this one.

Lecce: Gianluca Lapadula and Luca Rossettini are suspended. Filippo Falco should be available after an MCL sprain, Zan Majer returned in Coppa Italia, while Marco Mancosu, Biagio Meccariello and Diego Farias are banged up and at serious risk of missing the next game.

Milan: Lucas Paqueta should make the squad list after skipping one with muscle fatigue.

Napoli: Kalidou Koulibaly hurt his left shoulder and he is questionable, while Dries Mertens has been under the weather this week. They have both been called up. Arkadiusz Milik (abdomen), Allan (ribs) and Faouzi Ghoulam (thigh) will be sidelined for another week.

Parma: Gervinho is trying to shake off a knock, while Andreas Cornelius and Alberto Grassi picked up new muscular problems, but they should all be available. Matteo Scozzarella could be back from a calf strain this week or the next one, while Roberto Inglese and Yann Karamoh are more likely for 2020.

Roma: Justin Kluivert has been ruled out for the Inter game but is only dealing with a knock on the thigh. Javier Pastore stays out with a hip contusion. Pau Lopez sustained a last minute problem, while Edin Dzeko is questionable with the flu despite the coach’s optimism.

Sampdoria: among their injured players, Edgar Barreto is the only one with some chances to return, while Fabio Depaoli (ankle), Andrea Bertolacci (thigh), Federico Bonazzoli (thigh) and Bartosz Bereszynski (knee) will need more time.

Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi is available but it has not been determined yet whether he will start or not. Rogerio played in Coppa Italia after months on the shelf due to a meniscus tear (but will play with the U-19 this week) and Gianmarco Ferrari will be called up following a thigh strain. Andrea Consigli will not play again.

SPAL: Arkadiusz Reca and Felipe picked up problems in the Coppa Italia game that have yet to be fully evaluated. Gabriel Strefezza is nursing a quad contusion, Jacopo Sala a calf ailment: only Felipe has been able to recuperate enough to be available.

Torino: Simone Edera is disqualified. Andrea Belotti is unlikely to play because further tests revealed some muscular damage underneath his chest hematoma. Iago Falque (thigh) and Lyanco (knee) remain out of commission.

Udinese: Ken Sema is doubtful with the thigh problem that held him out last week and Mato Jajalo has a similar injury and will likely be sidelined as well. Samir is banged up as well.

Verona: Koray Gunter is suspended. Eddy Salcedo is being evaluated for a potentially major knee problem. Marash Kumbulla might make the squad list after missing a month with a thigh strain.
