Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 17

Atalanta: Alejandro Gomez and Josip Ilicic are expected to return from the ailments that held them out last week, barring late setbacks, while Duvan Zapata has commenced working to be available for the first game of 2020.

Bologna: Danilo is suspended. Roberto Soriano should be back from a knee contusion that sidelined him for a while, while Ladislav Krejci is out for the same kind of injury, joining Blerin Dzemaili, who picked up a thigh one. 

Brescia: Jesse Joronen missed two in a row due to a head injury and remains in doubt for the weekend, but he has been called up. Emanuele Ndoj has been ruled out with a thigh problem. 

Cagliari: Robin Olsen will serve the final game of his suspension and Nahitan Nandez will be out for yellow-card accumulation. Luca Ceppitelli is progressing from his plantar fasciitis but he is not ready. Lucas Castro and Fabrizio Cacciatore are fatigued and will be on the stands.

Fiorentina: Federico Chiesa has been ruled out with an ankle problem, but avoided significant damage.

Genoa: Domenico Criscito will be back after subbing off due to a back problem, while Stefano Sturaro and Andrea Favilli are dealing with minor muscular ailments and are iffier. Lukas Lerager and Cristian Zapata are unlikely, Goran Pandev is suspended.

Inter: Marcelo Brozovic and Lautaro Martinez are disqualified. Roberto Gagliardini (foot), Borja Valero (thigh) and even Stefano Sensi (thigh) have a shot to at least make the bench. Kwadwo Asamoah will likely miss another one with a bad knee.

Lecce: Zan Majer and Gianluca Lapadula are banned. Marco Mancosu has for the most part shaken off his tendinopathy and is slated to be called up. Diego Farias picked up a new thigh injury but he is available. Giannelli Imbula and Biagio Meccariello will miss another one. 

Milan: Theo Hernandez and Lucas Paqueta are suspended.

Napoli: Kalidou Koulibaly suffered a biceps femoris pull in the right thigh and should be back right after the break. Faouzi Ghoulam stays sidelined. 

Parma: Juraj Kucka has recovered quickly from a thigh strain, while Matteo Scozzarella remains on the mend. Andreas Cornelius suffer a grade two thigh strain and is not a lock to be back for the first game of 2020.

Roma: Justin Kluivert (thigh), Javier Pastore (hip), Antonio Mirante (shoulder) and Davide Santon (thigh) have been ruled out, on top of the long-term injured players Bryan Cristante (groin) and Davide Zappacosta (knee). Chris Smalling is back after a knee problem.

Sassuolo: Jeremy Toljan picked up the fifth yellow card in the make-up game. Andrea Consigli is getting closer but will not return Saturday. Gregoire Defrel (ankle) and Vlad Chiriches (thigh) will skip another one. Domenico Berardi could be load managed.

SPAL: Federico Di Francesco and Gabriel Strefezza will finally both be up and running this week following their thigh injuries, while Arkadiusz Reca (thigh) and Jacopo Sala (calf) are questionable.

Torino: Kevin Bonifazi has recovered from some fatigue, while Simone Edera and Vittorio Parigini could sit out another one, joining Iago Falque (thigh) and Lyanco (knee) on the shelf. Daniele Baselli sprained his left knee in practice and will likely miss a month.

Udinese: Samir underwent knee surgery to scoop out a torn meniscus and will be out of commission for a month. Ken Sema and Mato Jajalo are both poised to return from their thigh problems.
