Perin headed to Genoa, Raiola dishes on De Ligt and Kean

After a season and a half in Turin, Mattia Perin will leave on a temporary basis. The goalkeeper, who joined in the summer 2018 from Genoa, has already taken medicals with his former club, where he will return on a six-month loan to help them avoid relegation. Perin played nine times in the previous campaign, conceding eight goals before suffering a shoulder injury in April. Once the Old Lady brought back Gianluigi Buffon in a back-up role, he was supposed to move to Benfica, but the deal fell through due to the recovery from surgery.

Perin said goodbye with kind words on Instagram: “I leave one of the most blazoned team in Europe after key season of apprenticeship. I worked closely with champions that have unmatched technical and human values, where I learned what having to win means. Juventus is a mental state, it represented my first Scudetto, a life gym, rigor, a chance I could not pass on. Many of you asked I regretted the choice I made, but I never thought that! I do not know what will happen in the future, now I have to focus on a fascinating and complex adventure, but, should I come back, I hope to experience again the affection and warmth you gifted me of in these last few hours and that accompanied me serenely in this decision. Thank you Juventus.”

The mercurial agent Mino Raiola gave a wide-ranging interview to Repubblica, touching also on some Juventus-related matters: “Erling Haaland did not come to Italy because he is not a defender and he is not like Matthijs De Ligt, who has been his national team’s captain for two years. Italians can not promote their talents, let alone the foreign ones. Some scouts rave when they see a talented player born in 2001, but then I ask them what they are going to do with him if you do not play him.”

“Everybody wanted De Ligt, but he wishes to become the best defender in the world, so he told me he had to move to the Harvard, the MIT of defenders, so we picked Juventus to graduate there. I am very sad for the fact that Moise Kean had to move to England. If I had left him at Juventus, they would have used him in Serie C. Everton are very happy with him and he will not transfer in January. As far as Paul Pogba is concerned, I would no longer bring anybody to Manchester United, the would ruin even Diego Armando Maradona, Pelé or Paolo Maldini. He needs a team and a management like the first Juventus.”
