Sarri not looking ahead before Parma match

Maurizio Sarri opened the presser ahead of the Parma game by remembering Juventus great Pietro Anastasi, who passed away on Friday: “He was a very important player for this club and for the national team. It feels right to me to pay homage to a great footballer and man. The 1968 European championship final is one of the first games I recall and he was starring there.”

On the trident: “I would rather have abundance issues than the opposite thing. We will see how they are feeling today. The most important aspect is to dominate while being balanced, without taking risks. Gonzalo Higuain has a very precise role, the other two are extraordinary but they do not have a precise collocation on the pitch. Parma are one point away from Europa League, they rested all their starters on Thursday and they will be in good conditions. They can track back and counter well. We must be careful.”

On Matthijs De Ligt playing three games in a row: “He has done it three months ago and he can do it now that he is coming a period of rest.”

On Parma: “They do not really have major flaws, they have few muscular players. They have strong forwards and important values overall. They deserve their spot in the table. I hope not to see Dejan Kulusevski’s full arsenal tomorrow. I do not think he can join in January, the director was clear about that.”

On Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo not really fitting together: “It seems to me that Dybala is playing well with anybody and the same goes for Ronaldo, who has scored a lot of goals recently. I do not think that assessment is true.”

On Emre Can: “I do not have any preclusions about anybody. A player can resurface at every moment, but I look at the matches, the traits and the work in practice and then I make a choice.”

On managing the next three games: “You have to think about it but it is not like you can plan anything, you take it day.”

On Douglas Costa: “He has not had much continuity in practice, he could suffer from playing too much in a limited amount of time. We will evaluate today.”

On Adrien Rabiot: “He had some troubles adjusting, but he is much more tactically sound now, he might return in the national team, it would be a natural thing.”

On Inter strengthening the squad: “Fear is a big word. I do not follow our transfer market, let alone theirs. We must focus on ourselves. The game against them is distant, the one with Roma on Wednesday is already far away to me. Looking ahead and making a schedule would be silly.”

On Federico Bernardeschi being linked to Barcelona: “Nobody told me anything, so it is something that does not exist to me.”
