Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round Two

Atalanta: Duvan Zapata and José Palomino should be good to go after COVID, but they might be initially limited. Cristiano Piccini will be held out as he works on his fitness level. Aleksey Miranchuk (thigh strain) is unlikely to be back before the international break. Pierluigi Gollini (partial ACL tear) and Matteo Pessina (patellar dislocation) are expected to return in November. Berat Djimsiti and Cristian Romero are suspended. Josip Ilicic remains out indefinitely as he recovers from mental health issues, but at least he is practicing. 

Benevento: Nicolas Viola is out as he had a torn meniscus removed and will be sidelined for a couple of months. Oliver Kragl (neck) and Andres Tello have been ruled for minor ailments, Federico Barba because of lack of fitness. 

Bologna: Mitchell Dijks was sent off against Milan. Gary Medel has resumed practicing partially following a thigh strain and is good to go.

Cagliari: Luca Ceppitelli, Filip Bradaric and Kiril Despodov continue quarantining because of coronavirus. Ragnar Klavan and Andrea Carboni are fatigued: the former recovered, the latter is out. 

Crotone: Emmanuel Riviere picked up a calf pull that will is likely going to cost him the next two matches. Ahmad Benali, Giuseppe Cuomo and Guillaume Gigliotti, all dealing with muscular problems, will not be back here.

Fiorentina: German Pezzella missed the last game due to a minor foot problem but he should be ready for this one. Erick Pulgar is out again as he is working on his conditioning post-COVID.

Genoa: Domenico Criscito will not, while Stefano Sturaro, Francesco Cassata and Vittorio Parigini are all nursing thigh strains that are likely going to sideline them for the next two games. Filip Jagiello is out as well. Matteo Perin tested positive for COVID-19. 

Inter: Stefan De Vrij is suspended. Matias Vecino needs more time after undergoing knee surgery and could be out for two more months.

Juventus: Paulo Dybala is poised to be called up after sitting out the opener with a late-season thigh strain. It will be tough for Federico Bernardeschi and Alex Sandro to return before the break.

Lazio: Luiz Felipe (ankle sprain) and Denis Vavro (sports-hernia) will miss this round. Vedat Muriqi is self-secluding in Turkey because he tested positive before flying back after the transfer. Senad Lulic has not managed to recover from his ankle injury yet and does not have a timetable. Silvio Proto may miss the rest of 2020 due to an off-season left arm surgery. Jordan Lukaku has been ruled out as well. 

Milan: Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Leo Duarte tested positive for COVID-19 in the last few days and will be isolated until they are negative. Rafael Leao shook it off late last week and may be available. Andrea Conti is questionable as he rehabs from knee surgery. Alessio Romagnoli (calf) and Mateo Musacchio (ankle) remain on the mend

Napoli: the only absentees will be those excluded for transfer-market related reasons.

Parma: Gervinho (fatigue) and Riccardo Gagliolo (plantar fasciitis) are trying to shake off their injuries: the attacker is further along in his recovery as he got in a limited practice Friday and will indeed be available. Giuseppe Pezzella pulled his hamstring against Napoli and is questionable. Jasmin Kurtic will be held out by the team to avoid an appeal related to a technicality about the seasonal squad list. Roberto Inglese is out due to a late calf problem. 

Roma: Bruno Peres might be called up one week after clearing Coronavirus. Federico Fazio sat out the last game due to a mild ankle sprain.

Sampdoria: Manolo Gabbiadini should be available after skipping the first match due to an inflammation in the lower abdomen/groin area. Fabio Depaoli sat out a pair of practices with fatigue but should be okay.

Sassuolo: Rogerio subbed off in the last game and will miss some time with a calf problem, while Giacomo Raspadori will do the same with a thigh one. Jeremie Boga is still dealing with COVID. Lukas Haraslin, Gregoire Defrel and Hamed Traore are in imperfect conditions. 

Spezia: Giulio Maggiore and Claudio Terzi are suspended. Riccardo Marchizza and Federico Mattiello are banged up and and will be unavailable, like Giuseppe Mastinu, who is recovering from an ankle micro-fracture. Adrian Ismaijli and Gennaro Acampora have been ruled out as well. Elio Capradossi will be back in 2021 due to a late ACL tear. Alessandro Deiola has recovered from a knee problem. 

Torino: Ricardo Rodriguez is poised to sit again because of a thigh injury. Wilfred Singo continues recovering from a shoulder problem.

Udinese: Jens Larsen had off-season surgery on the gluteus and is likely to miss the first three matches. Mato Jajalo is recovering from a MCL sprain. Bram Nuytinck recently pulled his quad but might be able to recuperate in time. Rolando Mandragora will be back in the Winter from an ACL tear. Walace and Nahuel Molina have been ruled out with undisclosed issue. 

Verona: Alan Empereur suffered a calf strain in the last game and will be out for three-to-four weeks. Andrea Danzi will be on the shelf for longer due to a grade 2 MTJ tear in the right biceps femoris. Pawel Dawidowicz continues to be in and out the squad list due to a pec problem. Darko Lazovic (knee sprain) is available after a knee sprain, Marco Benassi remains on the med with a calf strain. Giangiacomo Magnani (quad strain) will be back after the break.
