Serie A Fantasy Player of the Month in October – Zlatan Ibrahimovic

No Serie A player made the EuroFantasyLeague of November, also because some of the likely candidates had to miss games and the others simply could not achieve the required amount of consistency and amass enough bonus points to crack it. However, does not mean that the shout-out for this month should remain vacant in this month and the nod goes to who has easily been the single best contributor to grace the Peninsula at the beginning of the season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish legend has already netted seven goals, four of which in the last 30 days, with one matchday spilling over to the start of November. He leads the League in scoring and he is tied with Andrea Belotti as fantasy leader since he has hauled 26 points so far.

The striker has spearheaded Milan’s early surprising but, not shocking run, as their schedule was fairly cream-puffy, they ended last year on a tear and they could tune up their fitness level thanks to the Europa League playoffs, in a rare circumstance where those were an asset and not a total burden.

Ibrahimovic has found the target in a variety of ways in the young campaign, nailing a pair of PKs, bagging vicious or cunning finishes in the box, often manhandling defenders with his unmatched combination of size and technique. He was dinged in the fantasy game because of a missed penalty kick in the Derby della Madonnina, but he pounced on the tap-in.

The most monumental goal came on Sunday, as he decided the Udinese contest, where thing had gotten tight for the Rossoneri, with an overhead kick after two defenders whiffed on the ball, which was not picture perfect but enough to nudge it past the line and pick up three more points. Earlier in the game, he added an assist for Frank Kessie on a gorgeous square ball. Milan are atop of the standings with five wins and one draw.

The centre-forward, who had to deal with COVID but shook it off with the usual brazenness, completed a great month with a fantastic pandemic-related PSA. Like him or hate him, at 39 he is still dominating, both on the headlines and on the pitch, and he is engaged in contract negations with Milan to extend his deal past this season, as he has shown no signs of slowing down.
