Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 14

Atalanta: Matteo Ruggeri (thigh), Matteo Caldara (Achilles) and Mario Pasalic (sports-hernia) will return in January.

Benevento: Iago Falque was a late scratch Wednesday due to a calf issue. Christian Maggio (calf) and Luca Caldirola (knee) are out.

Bologna: Riccardo Orsolini resumed practicing with the rest of the group following a thigh strain and and can play 20/30 minutes per the coach. Fewer chances instead for Andreas Skov Olsen and Nicola Sansone, while Federico Ravaglia is questionable with an ankle problem. Lukas Skorupski (finger), Ibrahima Mbaye (thigh) and Aaron Hickey (COVID) are out.

Cagliari: Adam Ounas is likely to be called up after Coronavirus, while Sebastian Walukiewicz is progressing after being shelved Wednesday. Alessandro Tripaldelli is questionable with an adductor pull, Paolo Faragò with a thigh bruise. Ragnar Klavan and Simone Aresti tested positive last week.

Crotone: Ahmad Benali (calf), Andrea Rispoli (knee) and Luca Cigarini (calf) were again excluded from the squad list, while Luca Marrone is suspended.

Fiorentina: Alfred Duncan and Valentin Eysseric have been called up after missing the midweek round.

Genoa: Vittorio Parigini and Francesco Cassata are the closest to recovering from thigh strains but not certain to return in this one, while Federico Marchetti, Cristian Zapata and Luca Pellegrini will return in January. Davide Biraschi will miss a couple of months following shoulder surgery.

Inter: Radja Nainggolan (calf), Alexis Sanchez (thigh) and Andrea Pinamonti are questionable. Nainggolan is the one in better shape but might be excluded anyway.

Juventus: Arthur will miss the second match in a row with a thigh contusion, while the coach sounded optimistic about Paulo Dybala, Merih Demiral and Giorgio Chiellini, but they have yet to release the squad list.

Lazio: Joaquin Correa was a late scratch Wednesday with a calf issue that is being evaluated, Francesco Acerbi with the thigh problem that he picked up in the previous match. Marco Parolo (ankle) and Lucas Leiva (thigh) might be forced to sit out another one. Senad Lulic (ankle) and Mohamed Fares (calf) are expected back in mid-January.

Milan: Franck Kessie is suspended. Sandro Tonali picked up an adductor issue in the past match and is questionable. Ante Rebic might be able to return after skipping one with a sore foot, slim chances instead for Simon Kjaer. Ismael Bennacer (thigh), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (calf) and Matteo Gabbia (knee) are on the mend.

Napoli: Hirving Lozano suffered a blunt trauma to the left lower leg with some damage to the peroneal ligament, while Kalidou Koulibaly pulled the rectus femoris muscle in the left thigh. They both hope to be ready for the first January match. Dries Mertens’ rehab from an ankle sprain will likely take longer. Victor Osimhen keeps nursing a shoulder sprain.

Parma: Vincent Laurini (calf), Alberto Grassi (shoulder), Giuseppe Pezzella (thigh), Valentin Mihaila (groin) and Matteo Scozzarella (calf) have been ruled out. Gervinho was scratched late with a thigh injury. 

Roma: Leonardo Spinazzola is doubtful to play because of a flexor problem in the left thigh.

Sampdoria: Alex Ferrari bowed out early in the previous match with a thigh issue that is being evaluated. Bartosz Bereszynski (thigh) and Manolo Gabbiadini are on the shelf.

Sassuolo: Nicolas Schiappacasse missed the last match with fatigue. Federico Ricci and Filippo Romagna (Achilles) are out.

Spezia: Juan Ramos (thigh) is the only injured player with concrete chances to return, while Leo Sena (calf), Federico Mattiello (thigh), Cristian Dell’Orco (thigh), Daniele Verde (calf), Andrej Galabinov (thigh) and Jeroen Zoet (thigh) will return in January at various points.

Torino: Lyanco is suspended. Simone Zaza and Simone Verdi were available midweek, while Nicola Murru, Cristian Ansaldi and Vincenzo Millico are nursing minor thigh problems. Daniele Baselli is approaching a return from an ACL tear.

Udinese: Fernando Forestieri (thigh), Thomas Ouwejan and Nicolas have minor chances to return in this one, while Stefano Okaka and Bram Nuytinck will be back in a couple of weeks.

Verona: Antonin Barak got his suspension reduced but he will be out this week. Nikola Kalinic, Ronaldo Vieira, Andrea Favilli and Samuel Di Carmine, all dealing with thigh injuries, are unlikely to be back for the final match of 2020.
