Calcio Predictions – Round 20

Torino-Fiorentina: the Granata showed some grit in the past game, the first one with Davide Nicola at the helm, equalizing at the buzzer against a decent opponent like Benevento. They have shared the spoils in five of the last seven matches, defeating Parma and losing to Milan. The Viola prevailed twice in the past three, in both cases at home versus Cagliari and Crotone, but with a drubbing by Napoli in the middle. They have been rather woeful away, but they have faced several big teams: 1-1.

Bologna-Milan: the difficulty of the enemy did not allow them to positively follow up the win over Verona, the only one in the last ten rounds, as they fell versus Juventus. The Rossoneri laid a big egg against Atalanta, suffering the second lost in the span of a month, but they have generally been money in easier matches: 1-3.

Sampdoria-Juventus: the Blucerchiati have been successful in three of the last four matches against Inter, Udinese and Parma, dropping only the Spezia one away. Same tally in the last four home games, with Sassuolo being the only successful team at Marassi in that span. However, the Bianconeri have quickly bounced back after the faux pas versus Inter and have come out on top in four of the past five outings: 1-2.

Inter-Benevento: the Nerazzurri have been quite irregular in January despite the massive W over Juventus, as they botched the Sampdoria tilt and also partly the recent Udinese one and tied with Roma as well. The Sanniti are in a funk with two big losses against Atalanta and Crotone and an unlucky draw with Torino in the last three rounds: 2-0.

Spezia-Udinese: the mini positive streak by the Aquilotti came to an end after two victories over Napoli and Sampdoria and a nil-nil with Torino, but Roma only sunk them late. The Zebrette have not taken home the full spoils in ages, but they are coming off two quality draws with Atalanta and Inter at home, showing some tenacity: 2-2.

Cagliari-Sassuolo: six losses in a row for the Sardinians, who were beaten by Fiorentina, Milan and Genoa in the last three, even with putting up decent fights. The Neroverdi did the same but lost anyway versus Lazio and Juventus in the past three and they did not fully take advantage of the Parma contest that was in between, so they too are in a downward trajectory, but they have more certainties than the opponents: 1-2.

Crotone-Genoa: the Squali have been topped in four of the past five tilts, but they have actually been effective at home, where they have bested Spezia, Parma and Benevento, losing only to Roma. However, they might be depleted. The Grifone have collected seven points in the last three weeks, upending Bologna and Cagliari and tying with Atalanta and might be ready to pounce on the opponents’ troubles: 0-1.

Napoli-Parma: the Partenopei suffered a rather ugly loss by the hands of Verona last week and are in a tail spin given also the defeat in the Supercoppa, however they have the right opponent on deck to try reacting as the Ducali has been knocked down in six of the last seven matches, displaying some resilience only against Sassuolo during their plunge: 3-1.

Roma-Verona: the Giallorossi had a weird performance against Spezia, where they could have easily scored a bunch of goals but were also dreadful in the back, but, in the end they did manage to win and partly shake off the stumble in the derby and the 2-2 with Inter. Right after a L with Bologna, the Scaligeri picked off Napoli, showing up in difficult matches as they are ones to do: only Inter have been able to torpedo them among the top six teams: 1-1.
