Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 20

Atalanta: Robin Gosens is suspended while Hans Hateboer has a bruised foot and he is questionable. Mario Pasalic is inching closer to recovering from sports-hernia surgery.

Benevento: Marco Sau will serve the second and last game of his ban. Pasquale Schiattarella shook off COVID and will be available to play few minutes. Gabriele Mancini (ankle) and Gaetano Letizia remain out out with a thigh strain. Roberto Insigne (foot) and Daam Foulon (knee) are in better shape than last week, while Alessandro Tuia is a late scratch. 

Bologna: Ibrahima Mbaye has recovered from a thigh injury but picked up a knee contusion, however he should be fine. Gary Medel has remained limited because of a calf contracture despite being called up last week and he is out. Federico Ravaglia has cleared the Coronavirus protocol. 

Cagliari: Nahitan Nandez is disqualified again. Andrea Carboni and Ragnar Klavan are looking to make their returns after dealing with COVID. Adam Ounas and Paolo Faragò’s absences are more transfer market-related as they are not dealing with major issues.

Crotone: Junior Messias turned his ankle in the past game and he is questionable. Emmanuel Riviere is iffy as well with muscle fatigue, same issue for Sebastiano Luperto. Luca Cigarini (calf) has not resumed practicing fully. Salvatore Molina (shoulder) and Giuseppe Cuomo (hip) will miss some more time.

Fiorentina: Aleksandar Kokorin is unavailable as the paperwork for his transfer has not been completed in time. Kevin Malcuit is out and he was dealing with a calf problem during his final days in Napoli.

Genoa: Luca Pellegrini is expected back after a thigh strain, while Cristian Zapata (calf) is 50/50. Lukas Lerager was a late scratch last week. Vittorio Parigini and Francesco Cassata (thigh) stay on the mend.

Inter: Matias Vecino (ankle) played with the Primavera team and should finally be available, differently from Danilo D’Ambrosio (knee).

Juventus: Dejan Kulusevski is suspended. Paulo Dybala will not knee sprain, while Federico Bernardeschi suffered an ankle problem in the Coppa Italia. Federico Chiesa and Alvaro Morata are also slightly banged up but the coach announced that Dybala will be the only missing player. 

Lazio: Luis Alberto has resumed practicing quickly in almost full fashion after appendicitis and he could be called up depending on how he finishes the week. Felipe Caicedo is dealing with some nagging planter fasciitis.

Milan: Mario Mandzukic (ankle) and Sandro Tonali (hip) missed the midweek cup fixture but should be good to and also Ismael Bennacer is expected to make his return after six weeks on the shelf with a thigh strain. Simon Kjaer will instead miss at least one match with a biceps femoris problem and Brahim Diaz is out as well. Matteo Gabbia is dealing with a knee sprain. Hakan Calhanoglu shook off COVID late in the week and will try to be available, but he has to clear some steps first. 

Napoli: Andrea Petagna is fatigued, Fabian Ruiz is going through the COVID protocol.

Parma: Wylan Cyprien has recovered form an illness and also Botond Balogh (tendinopathy) and Yordan Osorio (thigh strain) should be back. Fewer but not null chances for Vincent Laurini and Bruno Alves (thigh). Yann Karamoh is out with a new adductor issue, Lautaro Valenti will instead miss significant time.

Roma: Antonio Mirante and Riccardo Calafiori are poised to return after thigh strains and also Henrikh Mkhitaryan is likely as he went into full training on Thursday. Lorenzo Pellegrini is dinged up but should play through it. Pedro is slated to remain sidelined, while the coach and Edin Dzeko have not patched things up and he will stay out.

Sampdoria: Lorenzo Tonelli and Alex Ferrari are trying to shake off their thigh issues but they are not all the way back yet. Manolo Gabbiadini is recovering from sports-hernia surgery.

Sassuolo: Gregoire Defrel has a sore Achilles, Mehdi Bourabia a thigh problem and they are both questionable. Domenico Berardi is unlikely for this week as well. Nicolas Schiappacasse is banged up.

Spezia: M’Bala Nzola does not have great chances of returning this week from his ankle sprain. Tommaso Pobega hurt his hip, while Riccardo Saponara has muscle fatigue and they will be late calls. Roberto Piccoli will miss up to a month with a thigh strain. Federico Mattiello (thigh) is uncertain. Elio Capradossi has resumed working on the pitch after an ACL tear.

Torino: Nicolas Nkoulou is available after missing one with a hip ailment, while Armando Izzo out with a head trauma and Mergim Vojvoda with a shoulder sprain. Federico Bonazzoli and Simone Edera are out due to transfer market-related reasons. 

Udinese: Samir is suspended. Stefano Okaka and Fernando Forestieri (thigh) are close their initial timetable but it is uncertain whether they will be back this week.

Verona: Giangiacomo Magnani is suspended. Stefano Sturaro joined from Genoa with a thigh problem and should be out again, like Andrea Favilli and Ronaldo Vieira (thigh). Kevin Ruegg missed the past match with an ankle sprain. Miguel Veloso and Marco Benassi remain out of commission with calf problems.
