Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 21

Atalanta: Hans Hateboer has an uncertain timetable due to a microfracture in his foot. Bosko Sutalo missed the last game with an ankle problem, but he is available, while Joakim Maehle is out due to a cut on his foot. 

Benevento: Alessadro Tuia was excluded last week due to a calf problem, while Gabriele Moncini is out again with a bothersome ankle. Gaetano Letizia said that he is close to coming back from his thigh sprain but this game might be too early for him. Adolfo Gaich might not be available as he flew to Russia to finalize the paperwork for his transger.

Bologna: Riccardo Orsolini is fatigued, while Gary Medel keeps practicing on the side due to an achy calf. Paolo Faragò was sidelined by a thigh contusion in his final days at Cagliari.

Cagliari: Alfred Duncan sat out the last game due to a thigh pull and is iffy, while Alessandro Deiola turned his ankle and is undergoing further tests. Riccardo Sottil and Luca Ceppitelli picked up small muscular issues late in the week. Ragnar Klavan has yet to go into full practice a month after turning negative: nobody among the aforementioned players is available. Zuto Luvumbo is close to coming back but he might play with the youth team at first as he has been out for a ton of time.

Crotone: Junior Messias is suspended. Adam Ounas is nursing a thigh problem, Luca Cigarini a calf one that has sidelined for six weeks. Pedro Pereira suffered a calf contracture in the last game and might be forced to sit out one. Salvatore Molina (shoulder) and Giuseppe Cuomo (hip) will miss some more time.

Fiorentina: Gaetano Castrovilli and Nikola Milenkovic are banned. Franck Ribery will be a late call due to an undiclosed problem.

Genoa: Eldor Shomurodov is dealing with some muscle fatigue and has been ruled out late, like Andrea Masiello and Marko Pjaca. Alberto Paleari sat out one with muscle fatigue. Cristian Zapata (calf) has resumed practicing somewhat regularly but he will likely be out out. Francesco Cassata (thigh) and Davide Biraschi (shoulder) are making progress in their recovery from long-term injuries.

Inter: Matias Vecino (ankle) and Danilo D’Ambrosio (knee) were available midweek in the Coppa Italia, but the former will keep practicing in Milan over the weekend.

Juventus: Rodrigo Bentancur is disqualified. Paulo Dybala is on the wrong side of questionable due to a knee sprain that has cost him few matches. Aaron Ramsey is out with a thigh ailment. 

Lazio: Patric is suspended. Felipe Caicedo (foot), Thomas Strakosha (knee) and Danilo Cataldi (thigh) have missed the previous tilt but their problems are not considered overly severe: the striker has decent chances to make the bench. 

Milan: Hakan Calhanoglu will be back after Coronavirus. Simon Kjaer has some chances as well as he has almost healed from his thigh strain, but he is not quite ready yet. Brahim Diaz will instead remain on the shelf with a similar issue. Matteo Gabbia will return after a knee sprain. Ismael Bennacer has bronchitis, Sandro Tonali is unavailable as he is banged up. 

Napoli: Diego Demme could be sidelined after a blow to the head in Coppa Italia. Lorenzo Insigne has a sore calf. Dries Mertens is rehabbing his ankle injury in Belgium. Fabian Ruiz (COVID) turned negative but could need some practice time, while Faouzi Ghoulam and Kalidou Koulibaly contracted the virus.

Parma: Bruno Alves and Yann Karamoh will return, while Giuseppe Pezzella is out with fatigue, Maxime Busi with a thigh pull and Roberto Inglese remains away from the team. Simone Iacoponi suffered a bone bruise in the knee and will be sidelined for at least ten days. Vincent Laurini and Lautaro Valenti are out with thigh problems. All the newcomers are available. 

Roma: Lorenzo Pellegrini is suspended. Chris Smalling will miss at least a couple of games with a flexor strain. Pedro will not return this week from his thigh issue and Stephan El Shaarawy is not ready to play. and  Javier Pastore was available for the first time last week. Edin Dzeko has mended things with the coach.

Sampdoria: Manolo Gabbiadini (groin) is the only absentee as Alex Ferrari and Lorenzo Tonelli were called up for the previous match.

Sassuolo: Maxime Lopez is disqualified. Domenico Berardi has solved his thigh strain and even has a chance to start. Mehdi Bourabia (thigh) is on the mend. Francesco Caputo might not start due to fatigue but he should be available, like Jeremy Toljan, who is a little banged up. Vlad Chiriches has cleared the COVID protocol. 

Spezia: Claudio Terzi and Riccardo Marchizza are likely to return after skipping one with muscle fatigue. M’Bala Nzola is nursing a high ankle sprain with ligament damage and, while he is improving, he is set to sit out one or two more games. Tommaso Pobega and Riccardo Saponara are suspended. Roberto Piccoli and Salvador Ferrer are on the shelf with thigh strains. Diego Farias picked up a muscular ailment late in the week.

Torino: Armando Izzo will be back after a head trauma. Antonio Sanabria has COVID, Mergim Vojvoda is recovering from a shoulder sprain.

Udinese: Rodrigo De Paul was sent off last week. Stefano Okaka has returned to full practice after missing time with a hematoma in his thigh that required surgery, Fernando Forestieri (thigh) instead will stay out.

Verona: Ronaldo Vieira and Stefano Sturare are back, while Eddie Salcedo and Andrea Favilli are remain shelved due to a thigh issues. Miguel Veloso is out with a calf one, while Kevin Ruegg sprained his ankle. Federico Ceccherini will miss some time with a semitendinosus muscle strain.
