Italian Football Predictions – Round 24

Spezia-Parma: after two great wins, the Aquilotti weirdly came a cropper versus Fiorentina, certainly not an insurmountable opponent, so they will have to return to form here. The Ducali have shown some improvements in the past two matches, where they put up a fight and lost narrowly to Verona and suffered a comeback versus Udinese. It is a pivotal clash in the relegation zone, which might slow things down: 1-1.

Bologna-Lazio: the Felsinei have taken home points in the last three matches, defeating Parma and sharing the spoils with Benevento and Sassuolo and they are quite unpredictable in any given round. The Biancocelesti quickly bounced back from the loss versus Inter by nipping Sampdoria, but it remains to be seen whether the drubbing by Bayern will have lasting effects: 1-2.

Verona-Juventus: the Scaligeri are coming off an unlucky draw versus Genoa and a W over Parma, remedying to three away losses versus Bologna, Roma and Udinese. They have prevailed in their last three home fixtures. The Bianconeri creamed the lowly Crotone last week, taking home the fourth win in the last five outings, but despite the numbers they are not most consistent side and the Gialloblù excel against strong opponents: 1-1.

Sampdoria-Atalanta: the Blucerchiati gave Lazio a run for their money, but they come up short, suffering the second L in the past six rounds, the other versus Juventus. The Bergamaschi upended Cagliari and Napoli in the last two matches, re-gaining some steam after an up-and-down stretch. They are tough to contain when they are humming: 2-3.

Crotone-Cagliari: the Squali predictably could not keep up with Juventus and were beaten for the fifth straight match, the eight total in last nine rounds. The Sardinians pulled the trigger as fired Eusebio Di Francesco after their third straight 0-1 defeat versus Torino and will be hoping for a new coach’s bump at the most opportune time: 0-1.

Inter-Genoa: the Nerazzurri came out on top in impressive fashion in the Derby, taking home the fourth W in a row. They have prevailed in eight straight contests at home, plus the one with Milan. The Grifone continue to be resilient and made it two-all the buzzer versus Verona, pushing their undefeated streak to six fixtures, equally divided in wins and draws. But the Beneamata might be too hot even for them: 2-0.

Udinese-Fiorentina: after a beating by Roma to burst their winning streak, the Bianconeri mounted a key rally versus Parma, preventing the opponents from re-emerging in meaningful fashion the relegation struggle. They have lost only once in the past six tilts. The Viola returned to winnings ways after two faux pas by trampling Spezia, but they have been quite abysmal on the road: 1-1.

Napoli-Benevento: over the last six rounds, they have alternated good results at home, against Fiorentina, Napoli and Juventus, to defeats and some poor showings on the road, against Verona, Genoa and Atalanta. They will be hoping the home cooking continues here even though the gritty Sanniti have tied in three straight games and have been able to stop Roma last week: 1-0.

Roma-Milan: the Giallorossi could not work the way around the Benevento defense in the past bout despite their previous success against the minnows. They will have a golden opportunity to notch a good result against top competition here, something that has eluded them up to this point, since the Devil has looked bad over the last two matches, conceding five goals combined in the Spezia and Inter clashes and failing to score. However, it remains to be seen whether La Lupa will indeed be successful: 1-1.
