Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 29

Atalanta: Robin Gosens featured with Germany after missing the previous game with a contracture. Bosko Sutalo has shaken off a foot problem. Hans Hateboer is about a month away after undergoing surgery for a foot microfracture. Marten De Roon sustained an ankle bruise but there is optimism. 

Returning: Gosens, Sutalo; Missing: Hateboer. 

Benevento: Iago Falque, Fabio Depaoli and Gaetano Letizia are set to return after dealing with muscular problems.

Bologna: Rodrigo Palacio is suspended. Lukas Skorupski has contracted Coronavirus. Aaron Hickey is rumoured to be going under the knife for A shoulder sprain. Paolo Faragò might be available after a lengthy absence due to a bruised thigh. Ibrahima Mbaye picked up a muscular problem late in the week and he is out, Lorenzo De Silvestri is iffy with a calf ailment.

Returning: Faragò; Missing: Palacio, Hickey, Mbaye, Santander. 

Cagliari: Riccardo Sottil might be back from a thigh strain but has yet to go into full training. Luca Ceppitelli, Matteo Tramoni and Alessandro Tripaldelli are all dealing with muscle fatigue.

Missing: Ceppitelli, Sottil, Tramoni, Tripaldelli. 

Crotone: Jacopo Petriccione is suspended. Sebastiano Luperto is available after some groin soreness and also Adam Ounas will make the squad list following a thigh pull. Luca Cigarini is will be back after some knee soreness. Arkadiusz Reca will be held out because of the COVID outbreak within Poland.

Fiorentina: Bartlomiej Dragowski subbed off due to an ankle sprain in the past match but shook it off during the break. Aleksandr Kokorin is iffy with a thigh strain, while Igor is out with a more significant one. Kevin Malcuit is out with a late muscular issue. 

Missing: Malcuit, Kokorin, Igor. 

Genoa: Luca Pellegrini will likely stay on the mend with a thigh strain, while Francesco Cassata is back after a thigh contusion. Goran Pandev, Jerome Onguene and Manolo Portanova have been spared after international duties.

Returning: Cassata; Missing: Pellegrini, Pandev, Onguene, Portanova, Zima. 

Inter: Samir Handanovic, Stefan De Vrij and Matias Vecino had COVID but shook it off recently and now it is a matter of conditioning for them. Danilo D’Ambrosio is currently positive. Arturo Vidal is available after meniscus surgery, while Ivan Perisic and Aleksandar Kolarov have been ruled out with muscle fatigue.

Returning: Handanovic, De Vrij, Vecino, Vidal; Missing: D’Ambrosio, Kolarov, Perisic. 

Juventus: Gianluigi Buffon is disqualified. Leonardo Bonucci and Merih Demiral have contracted Coronavirus while on international duties. Aaron Ramsey and Alex Sandro have solved the thigh problems that sidelined them before the break. Giorgio Chiellini had a hiccup with Italy but should be fine. Paulo Dybala, Arthur and Weston McKennie will be excluded from the squad list for breaking the COVID regulations with a party. 

Returning: Ramsey, Sandro; Missing: Dybala, Arthur, McKennie, Demiral, Bonucci, Buffon.  

Lazio: Felipe Caicedo (planter fasciitis) and Mohamed Fares (knee contusion) have recuperated. Luis Alberto turned his ankle in practice but he made the squad list after being initially ruled out by the coach, although he is unlikely to start. Luiz Felipe is rehabbing after ankle surgery, but he is not far from returning. Patric is questionable because of back pain.

Milan: Ante Rebic won the appeal and will be eligible to play and he is past his recent hip problem. Rafael Leao and Mario Mandzukic will instead remain sidelined due to thigh strains. Brahim Diaz picked up a foot/ankle knock with Spain U-21 and is iffy. Alessio Romagnoli (calf strain) and Davide Calabria (meniscus tear) will skip a couple more matches.

Returning: Rebic; Missing: Diaz, Romagnoli, Calabria, Leao, Maldini, Mandzukic. 

Napoli: Kalidou Koulibaly is banned. Dries Mertens had a small scare with Belgium but his shoulder is okay. Andrea Petagna and Amir Rrahmani are expected to be available after suffering thigh problems before the break. Diego Demme is likely to be shelved with a sore tibial tendon. David Ospina suffered a hand injury but is available.

Parma: Giuseppe Pezzella is suspended. Gervinho and Andreas Cornelius are expected back after thigh issues. Lautaro Valenti is poised to remain on the shelf. Joshua Zirkzee suffered a major LCL sprain and is likely done for the season. Juan Brunetta picked up thigh tendinopathy with his national team. Simone Iacoponi (knee osteochondrosis) and Roberto Inglese (ankle soreness) need more time. Yann Karamoh and Simoh Sohm are both out with ankle sprains. Andrea Conti is questionable with muscle fatigue.  

Returing: Gervinho, Cornelius; Missing: Pezzella, Zirkzee, Karamoh, Inglese, Brunetta, Sohm, Valenti, Nicolussi Caviglia. 

Roma: Roger Ibanez and Gonzalo Villar are disqualified. Juan Jesus turned negative after a bout with COVID, but he is not ready. Chris Smalling (thigh and knee soreness) and Henrik Mkhitaryan (calf strain) will be unable to play. Bryan Cristante is fine, while Jordan Veretout will be called up but he is not 100 percent after a thigh strain. Marash Kumbulla is done for the season after damaging an external meniscus in the right knee.

Returning: Veretout. Missing: Ibanez, Villar, Smalling, Mkhitaryan, Ibanez, Kumbulla, Jesus. 

Sampdoria: Albin Ekdal picked up a muscular problem while with Sweden, Ernesto Torregrossa is out with his previous knee issue.

Missing: Ekdal, Torregrossa. 

Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi is dealing with an adductor problem, Francesco Caputo with back pain and they are both on the wrong side of questionable. Manuel Locatelli, Gianmarco Ferrari and Mert Muldur will be held out after their national teams had some COVID cases. Kaan Ayhan tested positive. Gregoire Defrel picked up a thigh problem.

Missing: Berardi, Caputo, Bourabia, Ferrari, Locatelli, Muldur, Defrel, Ayhan, Romagna. 

Spezia: Ivan Provedel and Nahuel Estevez no longer have COVID but only the former has been called up. Juan Ramos is going through the protocol. Riccardo Saponara will probably remain sidelined with a foot sprain. Federico Mattiello is questionable with a thigh strain, Cristian Dell’Orco with muscle fatigue.

Returning: Galabinov, Provedel; Missing: Estevez, Saponara, Dell’Orco, Kaprikas, Mattiello, Ramos. 

Torino: Nicholas N’Koulou has resumed practicing after Coronavirus, but he has been out for over a month. Lyanco has some back problems, while Cristian Ansaldi missed practice with a stomach bug and they do not have much time to recover. Wilfried Singo will skip a game or two with a thigh pull.

Udinese: Gerard Deulofeu is out with knee soreness.

Missing: Deulofeu, Prodl, Jajalo Pussetto. 

Verona: Pawel Dawidowicz is suspended. Ebrima Colley is available after missing time with a knee sprain. On the other hand, Nikola Kalinic (thigh strain), Rolando Vieira (thigh strain), Marco Benassi (calf strain) and Koray Gunter (calf pull) are unavailable. Giangiacomo Magnani is questionable with a knock. Mert Cetin is out with a knock.
