Italian Football Predictions – Round 33

Genoa-Spezia: the Grifone has surely let up, winning just once in the last 11 games, but few draws have kept them afloat, including the midweek one versus Benevento. Spezia managed to stop Inter with an impressive display, but they have been defeated in the last five road games: 2-1.

Parma-Crotone: the Ducali arrive at the clash between cellar-dwellers having dropped three of the past four games, even though they put up a fight in all of them, even against Milan and Juventus. The Squali have mostly done the same but have been sunk in six straight and 13 of the 14. They have been abysmal away: 3-2.

Sassuolo-Sampdoria: The Neroverdi have picked up a lot of steam with three straight Ws against Benevento, Fiorentina, and Milan, but the Blucerchiati have not been too shabby either, defeating Verona and Verona and Crotone in the past two: 2-1.

Benevento-Udinese: the Sanniti stopped the bleeding after two straight losses with a hard-fought draw with Genoa. The Bianconeri instead have been upended in four of the past five, topping only Crotone. The Giallorossi have not prevailed in months at home, while the guests have been fairly resilient on the road: 1-1.

Fiorentina-Juventus: the Viola returned to winning ways after four roughs displays by nipping Verona. The Old Lady quickly bounced in the soft match-up with Parma and have won three of four, but all at home. They will now look to do it on the road and exploit the fact that the Gigliati have not been impressive on their own turf: 1-3.

Inter-Verona: the Nerazzurri have physiologically relented with two consecutive 1-1 draw, but those behind them are distant and have not fared better. The Scaligeri are always gritty against top teams, but they have been bested in six of the last seven games: 1-0.

Cagliari-Roma: the Sardinians seem finally to have gotten their mojo back thanks to two healthy Ws over Parma and Udinese. The Giallorossi held their own versus Atalanta, but overall they have triumphed just once in the last six fixtures: 1-1.

Atalanta-Bologna: the Bergamaschi threw it away against Roma, wasting multiple chances to double the lead and eventually conceding the equalizer. They had won in four straight and eight of nine before Thursday. The Felsinei are coming off two positive results against Spezia and Torino, but they have had troubles containing elite enemies: 3-1.

Torino-Napoli: the Granata pushed their positive streak to five games thanks to the draw with Bologna. They beat Udinese and Roma in the previous two games. Despite their tenacity, it will be hard for them to keep up with Napoli, which were splendid against Lazio, Inter, and Sampdoria: 0-2.

Lazio-Milan: both sides are coming off disappointing results as the Biancocelesti’s five-game winning streak came to a screeching halt in Naples, while the Rossoneri were torpedoed by Sassuolo. However, they have put together a run respectively at home and on the road, so it could be a war of attrition: 2-2.
