La Liga Weekend Picks – Round 2

The first weekend of the season in La Liga saw Real Madrid, Barcelona, Levante, Real Socieded, Sevilla, Huesca and Athletic pick up victories, while Valencia and Atletico Madrid shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Let’s take a look at which players could shine for their clubs this weekend.

GK – Oier (Levante)
Oier was one of five goalkeepers in La Liga to pick up seven points at the weekend, helping Levante win 3-0 away at Real Betis. Valued at 5.50m with a promising set of fixtures coming up, the 28-year-old could be worth looking at.

DF – Sergio Postigo (Levante)
Sergio Postigo is another Levante player who might be worth a gamble. He was part of the defence that kept a clean sheet against Betis, earning an impressive five points, and he only costs 6.50m.

DF – Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid)
Diego Godin failed to pick up a point in Atletico’s 1-1 draw with Valencia. Diego Simeone’s side still boast one of the meanest defences in Europe, though, so Godin is well worth the 9.00m outlay ahead of this weekend’s visit of Rayo Vallecano.

DF – Damian Suarez (Getafe)
Damian Suarez hasn’t got off to the best of starts – he is on -1 points after the 2-0 loss to Real Madrid – but it’s worth noting that Getafe conceded just 33 goals last season, so 7.50m is decent value. Getafe are at home to Eibar on Friday.

DF – Jordi Alba (Barcelona)
At 9.00m, Jordi Alba would be another luxury addition to your defence, but he’d definitely be worth it. The left-back picked up five points on Saturday, helping Barcelona win 3-0 against Alaves.

MD – Andre Silva (Sevilla)
Andre Silva scored two Serie A goals for AC Milan last season but he has already surpassed that tally with a hat-trick on his Sevilla debut against Rayo Vallecano. Valued at 5.50m, he is a must-have in your team ahead of the visit of Villarreal.

MD – Pablo Fornals (Villarreal)
Only six midfielders earned more points in La Liga last season than Pablo Fornals (54). He failed to register any points in Villarreal’s 2-1 loss against Real Sociedad, but he should still be a reliable long-term addition at 8.00m.

MD – Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
Julen Lopetegui hailed the influence of Gareth Bale after his goal in the 2-0 win over Getafe. The 11.00m Welshman is already on six points this season and will play a crucial role against Girona on Sunday.

ST – Gerard Moreno (Villarreal)
If you’re looking for a relatively cheap striker, Gerard Moreno might be your man at 8.50m. Having scored 16 times for Espanyol last season, he grabbed a debut goal for new club Villarreal at the weekend, earning four points.

ST – Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
Lionel Messi costs a crazy amount (20.00m) but he’s worth every million. The Argentine was the top striker in La Liga Fantasy Football in 2017-18 and he’s already on eight points this season after scoring twice against Alaves.

ST – Alex Gallar (Huesca)
Alex Gallar was hardly a goal machine in the Segunda Division last season but he’s off to a flyer in La Liga, picking up eight points after scoring twice against Eibar. At just 5.00m, he might be a gamble worth taking for the trip to Bilbao.
