EPL Best XI – Mo Salah stars again

Roberto Firmino Mo Salah

The third weekend of the 2018-19 Premier League season saw Liverpool, Chelsea and Watford continue their winning starts to the new campaign, while Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by newly promoted Wolves. But which players stood out to make the EPL Best XI of the Weekend?

GK: Alisson, Liverpool – seven points
With three clean sheets from three matches, Alisson couldn’t have had a better start to life as Liverpool goalkeeper. The Brazilian picked up seven points this weekend, taking his tally for the season to a very impressive 21 points.

DF: Christopher Schindler, Huddersfield – five points
Despite making this XI, Christopher Schindler is still ranked as the fifth-worst defender in the Premier League this season (-4 points). The Huddersfield man earned his first positive points of 2018-19 in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Cardiff.

DF: Sol Bamba, Cardiff – five points
Huddersfield 0-0 Cardiff was hardly a classic but, just like Cardiff 0-0 Newcastle last weekend, it certainly helped EPL Fantasy managers. Sol Bamba played the full 90 minutes for Cardiff to pick up another set of five points.

DF: Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool – five points
January signing Virgil van Dijk has been key to Liverpool’s defensive improvement in 2018. The Dutchman earned five points in the 1-0 victory over Brighton, meaning he now has 15 points this season.

DF: Andrew Robertson, Liverpool – five points
With 17 points from three matches, Andrew Robertson has made a better start to this season’s EPL Fantasy League than any of his fellow defenders in England’s top flight. The Scot earned another five points with a clean sheet on Saturday.

MD: Mo Salah, Liverpool – six points
An incredible 35% of EPL Fantasy players have selected Mo Salah in their team for the 2018-19 season, and the Liverpool man went a long way to repaying his 15.00m value by scoring the only goal against Brighton.

MD: Eden Hazard, Chelsea – four points
Considering the 2-1 win over Newcastle was Eden Hazard’s first 2018-19 start, his tally of 10 points this season is very impressive. The Belgian’s goal from the penalty spot opened the scoring on Sunday.

MD: Jean Seri, Fulham – four points
Summer signing Jean Seri failed to pick up any points in Fulham’s first two matches back in the Premier League. However, he more than made up for that with a lethal strike in the 4-2 win over Burnley to earn himself four points.

MD: Theo Walcott, Everton – four points
After setting up one goal and scoring another against Southampton last week, Theo Walcott added four points to his 2018-19 tally by finding the net for the second successive match in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday.

MD: Roberto Firmino, Liverpool – four points
Roberto Firmino is yet to get himself on the scoresheet for Liverpool this season, but he’s still proving to be a worthy inclusion in EPL Fantasy teams. The Brazilian recorded his second assist of the season in the win over Brighton.

ST: Danny Welbeck, Arsenal – four points
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang failed to find the target for the third match in a row, so Unai Emery turned to Danny Welbeck late on against West Ham. The England man took his chance by scoring in injury time to seal a 3-1 win, earning himself four points.
