La Liga Best XI – Week 2

Let us now take a look at which players performed the best for their clubs in the second round of action in this season’s La Liga.  We will be playing a 4-3-3 this week,

GK - Tomás Vaclik (Sevilla)
Tomás Vaclik was one of only several goalkeepers in La Liga to keep a clean sheet this weekend, but at just 4m was the cheapest (tied with Diego Lopez of Espanyol). Sevilla drew 0-0 at home against Villarreal – good result.

DF - Stefan Savic (Atletico Madrid)
Savic was the top defender in La Liga for fantasy points this weekend with seven. Those were accrued owing to the clean sheet in their 1-0 win against Rayo Vallecano, and he also provided the assist for Antoine Griezmann’s 63rd minute goal.

DF - Jordi Alba (Barcelona)
The 9m-rated Barcelona defender was vital as the Catalans kept a clean sheet in their 1-0 win at Real Valladolid. The result sends them second in the table, level on points with Real Madrid but behind on goal difference.

DF - Damián Suárez (Getafe)
Another of a host of defenders to earn five points for a clean sheet, the 30-year-old Uruguayan gets in there for his solid showing as Getafe beat Eibar 2-0.

DF - Rubén Duarte (Alaves)
The match itself may have been a 0-0 draw, but Duarte bags five for the clean sheet and brings himself into positive figures, successfully bouncing back after a dodgy first outing of the season where he had earned -2 points.

MF - Esteban Granero (Espanyol)
Granero  was making his first appearance of the season, and struck a goal – as well as his side keeping a clean sheet – to earn six fantasy points, putting him tied at the top of the La Liga midfielder charts this week.

MF - Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
The Welsh wizard is right up there with Granero with a goal and an assist in Real’s 4-1 win at Girona. The result sends Los Blancos to the top of La Liga, one goal ahead of second placed Barcelona who are level on points.

MF - David Zurutuza (Real Sociedad)
Zurutuza’s Real Sociedad side struggled to a 2-2 draw at Leganes, but the scored one of the goals. Among a fair few midfielders with four points to their name this week, the Frenchman will only set you back 6m – the cheapest of the bunch.

ST - Nabil El Zhar (Leganes)
Ex-Liverpool winger Nabil El Zhar was the top La Liga striker this weekend, with both goals for Leganes in that 2-2 draw with Real Sociedad. At only 5m to get into your fantasy squad, he certainly represented wonderful value this weekend.

ST - Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
Benzema  had been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer. Two goals gave him eight points, though he did lose one for a booking and so finished the weekend on seven from that 4-1 win at Girona.

ST - Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona)
Dembele put in a fine individual performance as Barcelona sneaked that 1-0 win at Real Valladolid. Dembele, who is owned by 4% of all Euro Fantasy League players at this point, scored the only goal of the game.
