EPL Best XI – Leroy Sane leads the way

The 13th weekend of the 2018-19 Premier League season saw Manchester City and Liverpool maintain their unbeaten starts, while Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the campaign at the hands of Tottenham. Let’s take a look at the top points scorers from the weekend’s games…

GK: Jonas Lossl, Huddersfield – seven points
Jonas Lossl kept his third clean sheet of the season as Huddersfield won 2-0 away at Wolves on Sunday. The Dane now has 14 points from his last three games.

DF: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool – nine points
Trent Alexander-Arnold enhanced his glowing reputation by scoring a free-kick in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory at Watford. The youngster earned himself nine points — more than any other defender this weekend.

DF: Yerry Mina, Everton – five points
Two starts, two clean sheets for Yerry Mina so far in the Premier League. The summer signing played a key role in helping Everton to a 1-0 win over Cardiff.

DF: Andrew Robertson, Liverpool – five points
Another week, another Best XI selection for Andrew Robertson. The Liverpool left-back was unable to record any assists against Watford but he still had an important part to play in the 3-0 win.

MD: Leroy Sane, Manchester City – 12 points
Leroy Sane had a slow start to the season but he hasn’t looked back since September. The Germany international picked up 12 points after scoring twice and setting up another goal in the 4-0 win over West Ham.

MD: Aaron Mooy, Huddersfield – 10 points
Aaron Mooy ended his scoring drought by grabbing both Huddersfield goals in the 2-0 win over Wolves. He picked up 10 points, moving him on to 13 points for the season.

MD: Raheem Sterling, Manchester City – eight points
With one goal and one assist in the 4-0 victory at West Ham, Raheem Sterling earns yet another place in our Best XI. He has 53 points in 2018-19 — more than any other outfield player.

MD: Dele Alli, Tottenham – six points
Dele Alli produced his best performance of the season against Chelsea, scoring one goal and setting up another in the 3-1 win at Wembley. The Tottenham midfielder now has six points this season.

MD: Mo Salah, Liverpool – six points
Mo Salah scored his seventh league goal of the season in the 3-0 win over Watford, earning himself six points and another Best XI place. Raheem Sterling is the only outfield player with more points than Salah (50) this season.

ST: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Arsenal – four points
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored for the eighth time in the league this season to help Arsenal to a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth. He has 34 points in 2018-19 so far — Sergio Aguero is the only striker with more.

ST: Heung-Min Son, Tottenham – four points
Heung-Min Son scored an incredible solo goal in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Chelsea, taking his low 2018-19 tally to six points.
