EPL Weekend Picks – Week 34

This weekend’s Premier League will see the season continuing to take shape as, with just a few games to go, there is still a wide open title race and only one relegation spot left to fill. Liverpool leapfrogged Man City back into top spot last weekend, but the Citizens have a game in hand – just how much of a say will Chelsea and Crystal Palace have on Sunday against the top two? Palace host City while Chelsea travel to Liverpool and so there could well be more twists and turns in this title race yet. Towards the bottom of the table, already-relegated Huddersfield and Fulham both have tricky fixtures, with the Terriers at Tottenham while Fulham host Everton. Let’s take on a 4-3-3 here and see which players will fancy their chances.

GK - Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)
Lloris may have had a rough week or two but generally he is one of the finest keepers in the Premier League. The home game against Huddersfield represents a wonderful chance for a clean sheet.

DF - Wes Morgan (Leicester)
A couple of matches ago, Morgan earned a season-high nine points in Leicester’s win against Bournemout. He wasn’t able to contribute fantasy-points wise against Huddersfield, but could be looking at a clean sheet when Newcastle come to town.

DF – Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)
Liverpool host Chelsea on Sunday, and the last time the Blues were on Merseyside they drew a blank, losing 2-0 at Everton. They don’t fail to score too often, but Liverpool have the best defence in the Premier League this season, so could struggle going forward.

DF – Lucas Digne (Everton)
Digne’s Everton travel to Fulham this weekend, and with the west Londoners already relegated and struggling to score the Toffees will be aiming to keep it tight at the back and get the clean sheet.

DF - Kieran Trippier (Tottenham Hotspur)
Much like Lloris, Spurs defender Kieran Trippier will want to halt the north Londoners’ recent struggles and get a decisive win over bottom club Huddersfield. Back Trippier and his team-mates to win to nil in this one.

MF – Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
The Premier League’s top midfielder as far as Euro Fantasy League points go, Salah will find himself facing former club Chelsea on Sunday. With the Egyptian in such fine form and high on confidence after his goal against Southampton, he will want another here.

MF – Paul Pogba (Man Utd)
Pogba is not having a bad season generally, though it has vastly improved since manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival. With United going up against West Ham at Old Trafford in Saturday’s late kickoff, the Frenchman will want to help spearhead United’s hunt for a top four finish.

MF – Riyad Mahrez (Man City)
Mahrez goes up against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday, and with City scarcely able to afford a slip up in the final few games of the season they will be wanting to go all out here. Mahrez’s linkup with Sergio Aguero could be key.

ST – Sergio Aguero (Man City)
As previously mentioned, Mahrez’s forward play towards Argentine Aguero could be key if City are to retain the Premier League title. He will be looking for plenty of supply from the likes of Silva and De Bruyne as well, and will be itching to get among the goals as long as he features following a recent bout of illness.

ST – Raul Jimenez (Wolves)
Wolves travel to Southampton on Saturday afternoon, and Jimenez’s fine form will be a source of hope for the Premier League new boys to take all three points at St. Mary’s. He has 50 points already this season, Saints are struggling (despite recent improvements) while Wolves have had a great season.

ST - Ashley Barnes (Burnley)
Burnley have a HUGE relegation clash with Cardiff on Saturday, and while Burnley are now looking much safer than they were a fortnight ago thanks to consecutive wins they could still do with getting the job done at Turf Moor here. Barnes will be wanting to add to his 10 goals this season.
