Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round Nine

Juventus: Aaron Ramsey and Douglas Costa are set to miss another one as they continue working their way back from thigh injuries. Mattia De Sciglio, instead, could make the squad list.

Inter: Stefano Sensi is likely to miss another two matches due to a psoas muscle problem. Matias Vecino was held out midweek due to muscle fatigue and he is questionable.

Atalanta: Alejandro Gomez subbed off at half time against Manchester City but there is not much concern about his availability. Simon Kjaer and José-Luis Palomino will return after thigh problems, while Andrea Masiello is out with a minor injury. 

Napoli: Hirving Lozano returned in Champions League from an ankle sprain. Kostas Manolas missed that one due to bruised ribs and will not be back in the weekendNikola Maksimovic returns from a thigh ailment, while Mario Rui remains sidelined. Faouzi Ghoulam is dealing with knee soreness, but he is available this week.

Cagliari: Federico Mattiello and Alessandro Deiola are back in the squad list after muscle fatigue and a foot contusion respectively, while Fabrizio Cacciatore (thigh) and Charalampos Lykogiannis (Achilles) will be sidelined for a little longer. Nahitan Nandez missed some practice time due to a blow to the thigh, but he recuperated quickly. 

Roma: Bryan Cristante suffered a detachment of the adductor tendon and will rehab for ten days before deciding on surgery, which would sideline him until 2020. Nikola Kalinic fractured the top of his tibia and will be out for approximately two months. Cengiz Under and Henrikh Mhkitaryan (thigh) will likely be forced to sit out another game. Justin Kluivert is suspended.

Lazio: Silvio Proto sprained his right wrist and will be on the mend for a while. Stefan Radu is fatigued but will try to recover. Valon Berisha was called up in Europa League after missing the previous contest. Thomas Strakosha and Francesco Acerbi are banged up but should play through their ailments. 

Parma: Andreas Cornelius suffered a biceps femoris strain in his left thigh and will be on the shelf for the standard three weeks. Alberto Grassi underwent surgery to clean-up the right knee: he will have to rest for two weeks and then start rehabbing, so he could be out for about a month. Vincent Laurini remains questionable since he is dealing with a shoulder sprain on top of a head trauma. Luca Siligardi is not in the squad list. 

Fiorentina: Jacob Rasmussen stays the only absentee due to illness.

Torino: Alex Berenguer is nursing an ankle sprain that could hold him out again this week.

Udinese: Jens Stryger Larsen is unlikely to come back from the small muscular problem that sidelined him last week.

Milan: Giacomo Bonaventura was a last-minute exclusion last week but the severity of his thigh injury has not been fully disclosed yet. Cristian Rodriguez is out with an adductor injury. 

Bologna: Mitchell Dijks has yet to resume practicing fully, so he risks missing another match, this time due to a sore foot. Mattia Destro has an inflamed joint capsule in his left knee and could be on the mend for up to a month.

Verona: Miguel Veloso was ruled out due to muscle fatigue. Sofyan Amrabat is banged out but could play through it. Salvatore Bocchetti suffered a thigh strain and will miss two-to-three weeks. No returns among the other injured players.

Brescia: Daniele Dessena fractured the malleolus in his right leg and his 2019 is likely over. Bruno Martella missed one due to muscle fatigue but could be back shortly. Giangiacomo Magnani and Ernesto Torregrossa are getting closer after missing a lot of time, but it remains to be seen whether they will be ready this week. Luca Tremolada is nursing a shoulder sprain. Emanuele Ndoj made the squad list after missing all the previous matches due to ankle surgery. 

Lecce: Giannelli Imbula is still out with a mild thigh problem. Diego Farias had the same issue this week but he could be available.

Sassuolo: Gianmarco Ferrari, Vlad Chiriches and Luca Mazzitelli have all been diagnosed with thigh strain following last week’s absence and will therefore be out of commission for three-to-four weeks. Mehdi Bourabia instead has a calf ailment and, while he is not in the squad list for the Verona game, he should be back shortly. Alessandro Tripaldelli was not called up due to fatigue.

SPAL: Francesco Vicari subbed off against Cagliari due to a muscular issue, while Andrea Petagna banged knees in practice, but they both should be ready to contribute against Napoli. Federico Di Francesco is on his way to a full recovery from a thigh strain and he has a chance to be in the squad list this week. Marko Jankovic is questionable.

Genoa: Andrea Favilli suffered a thigh strain. Marko Pajac is iffy due to a last-minute issue.

Sampdoria: Karol Linetty is trying to shake off a thigh contracture and will not be available on Sunday. Gonzalo Maroni, Vasco Regini and Morten Thorsby have not been called up to work on their conditioning.
