Serie A Fantasy Picks – Round 31

belotti

Salvatore Sirigu: even if the Torino’s defense has slipped a little in the past few games, he has pulled off some amazing performances and perhaps, differently from Frosinone, they will be able to take advantage of Parma’s absences up front.

Mario Rui: he showed well even in a losing effort in Empoli. Genoa have had a lot of troubles coming up with goals lately, so the Napoli defenders are certainly intriguing in this round, especially Ghoulam, Rui and Kevin Malcuit who are the most involved offensively.

Fabrizio Cacciatore: SPAL are not great on the road, while Cagliari were very solid at home up until the match with Juventus. He is coming off two assists in a row and Darijo Srna is suspended. Luca Pellegrini is faring well too and he will not have to deal with Manuel Lazzari.  Continue reading

Serie A Match of the Round – Juventus vs Napoli

juventusnapoli2

The most anticipated match-up of the early portion of the season did not disappoint and, for a change, was played at a fast pace and with a proactive attitude by both sides. Juventus came out on top by overwhelming Napoli led by their big-ticket summer acquisition, but the Partenopei confirmed their competitivity on Saturday, even though it will be tough for anybody to keep up with the seven-time Italian Champions in the standings.

The Old Lady came into the game having won every fixture, while Napoli dropped points just once as they were defeated by Sampdoria. Continue reading

Serie A Fantasy Picks – Round 5

babacar

Robin Olsen: the Swedish goalkeeper has fared pretty well so far in the Italian Capital, with few spectacular saves. The problem for him is that his back-line has given up so many scoring chances, so he has been unable to pick up clean sheets. He will have a prime opportunity for that as Roma take on Bologna on the road, a club that have yet to score a single goal.

Joao Cancelo: he has been as good as advertised so far, immediately becoming a force down the right flank for Juventus after a great season at Inter. They will face Frosinone’s ineffective attack on Sunday night. Continue reading

Serie A Team of the Week – Round 37

albiol

The last round was a little lacking in terms of scoring: here is who made it to the team of the week.

Alessio Cragno: six teams kept a clean sheet in the last round, but there were not any superhuman performance by a goalie, so Cragno gets the spot because he did it against the toughest opponent. He racked up seven points as usual.

Raul Albiol: he was the top earner this week with nine points, thanks to the potent header that sealed the deal against Sampdoria and the clean sheet.  Continue reading
