The Premier League culminated last weekend with Chelsea being crowned champions. We take a look back on a memorable season which provided many talking points and we highlight the top five goalkeepers.
Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea

Quite fittingly, Thibaut Courtois finished joint top of the fantasy football goalkeeping charts. The former Atletico Madrid keeper had a wonderful season and contributed to Chelsea’s league winning side by keeping 16 clean sheets in his 36 starts. He will start the FA Cup final on Saturday and look to help the Londoners to a memorable double. Chelsea had the 3rd best defence in the Premier League, conceding 33 goals and Thibaut Courtois, who is valued at 13M, returned a reasonable price/performance ratio of 7.8.

Hugo Lloris – Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur, despite finishing trophyless, will be more than pleased with their efforts over the season and their 2nd place finish. As well as being the league’s top scorers, they also had the tightest defence, thus returning the highest goal difference of +60. Hugo Lloris was outstanding this season with 15 clean sheets in 34 starts giving him a points total of 95 which was equal to Thibaut Courtois. Valued at just 9M his price/performance ratio of 10.7 is among the highest ratios for a goalkeeper in the top division.

David de Gea – Manchester United

David de Gea, who is rumoured to be leaving Manchester United in the close season showed again why he is rated as one of the world’s best goalkeepers. The Europa League winners finished the Premier League with the 2nd best defence, conceding just 29 goals in their 38 matches. David de Gea kept 14 clean sheets in 34 starts and valued at 12.5M, he finished the season with a price/performance ratio of 6.2.

Joel Robles – Everton

In fourth place in the fantasy football Premier League goalkeeping positions, we find Joel Robles of Everton. He came into the side after Maarten Stekelenburg was ruled out with a long-term injury and made the no. 1 jersey his own. In just 19 starts this season he has kept an impressive 10 clean sheets and conceded just 20 goals. He is valued at 5.5M and racked up a total of 51 points, giving him an impressive price/performance ratio of 8.9.

Petr Cech – Arsenal

Arsenal have disappointed this season although they do have a chance of redeeming themselves with an FA Cup final against London rivals Chelsea on Saturday. Petr Cech is our 5th best performing goalkeeper this season and the veteran keeper, with 12 clean sheets in 35 starts returned a price/performance ratio of 10.5M.
