Top Midfielders in Premier League – Week 7

Fellaini-Mata-ManUnited
After seven weeks in to the 2017-18 Premier League season, both Manchester clubs are the only sides left undefeated.

Both City and United have 19 points from their opening seven games, and they occupy the top two spots in the league table. Pep Guardiola’s side have already defeated the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, buy Jose Mourinho’s players are yet to face a
top side this season.

However, that will change this weekend, as United travel to their arch nemesis Liverpool on Saturday. The game at Anfield will be the true test of the credentials of Mourinho’s side, but the Portuguese manager will be without his two key midfielders in Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini.

Fellaini, who was the top performing Premier League midfielder in EuroFantasyLeague last gameweek, has suffered an injury on the national duty. The Belgian scored a brace in the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace and collected a total of ten points. On the back of his performance against Palace, he climbed up to the fourth spot in the overall table. Fellaini is available for 7m in the market and has totalled 24 points this season.

After Fellaini, a number of midfielders jointly occupied the second spot with six points each.

Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City produced arguably the most important performance of the game week as his strike helped City to a 1-0 win over Chelsea. The Belgium international, who is an expensive purchase in the market at 11.5m, collected six points to take his season tally to 20 points. Besides his goal against the Blues, he has also provided a total of three assists in his seven starts.

Juan Mata of United was also on target against Crystal Palace and picked up six points from the 4-0 win. The Spaniard, who is available for 8m, has put together 16 points from seven appearances. The goal against the Eagles was Mata’s first league goal
of the season.

Jeff Hendrick scored for the Clarets in the 1-0 win at Everton. The 25-year-old, who has made four starts this season, has a total of eight points in his account following his match-winning performance against the Toffees. He is available for 7m on the market.

Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi finds himself in the last spot on our table. The 21-year-old scored in the 2-0 win over Brighton for a six-point return from the game. The Nigeria international has made only three league appearances this season and has managed eight points.
