La Liga Weekend Picks – Round 7

muniainThere is an action-packed few days of football in La Liga this week, but for the purposes of compiling this list the fixtures between Friday and Monday this coming weekend will be the primary focus this week. That will be round 7 of La Liga’s matches. Real Valladolid, for example, welcome Levante to José Zorrilla on Thursday before travelling to Villarreal on Sunday. It will be a busy few days for La Liga players for sure! It is going to be a 4-3-3 formation this week, so with that in mind let’s get down to it!

GK - Gerónimo Rulli (Real Sociedad)
Rulli  has not had the best of starts this season – he sits on -1 point so far – but at the weekend Sociedad host struggling Valencia. The visitors have only scored three goals from their opening five games, so this could be a chance for Rulli to get up and running.

DF - Jordi Alba (Barcelona)
Alba makes the list once again! One of the highest fantasy points-scoring players in La Liga this season, Alba’s Barcelona side sit atop the table this season and welcome Athletic Bilbao to the Nou Camp on Saturday.

DF - Bruno (Getafe)
Bruno  has started all five games so far this season, with Getafe sitting 10th. They travel to Alaves on Thursday evening (admittedly a tough game) before continuing their journeys, to Celta Vigo on Monday.

DF - Miguel Layún (Villarreal)
Layún is another player to have had a decent start to the 2018/19 season, despite Villarreal having struggled on the whole so far. Villarreal are at Espanyol on Sunday.

DF - Marc Bartra (Real Betis)
Bartra’s Betis have a tough trip to Atletico Madrid on Sunday, so while this may appear a strange selection on paper it could be worth a punt. Betis kept three clean sheets from their first five games, and Atleti haven’t scored too many considering their position so far.

MF - David Zurutuza (Real Sociedad)
Zuruzuta hasn’t started too many games so far this season, yet he finds himself with more fantasy points than his fellow Sociedad midfielders. The trip to Athletic Bilbao on Friday evening may be tricky, but if he can find his feet should he feature then he should do well.

MF - Sergi Roberto (Barcelona)
Roberto  hasn’t done badly at all this season, accumulating six fantasy points from four starts. The trip to Valencia this weekend represent a real opportunity for him to add to that tally given the hosts’ current form.

MF - Gonzalo Escalante (Eibar)
Escalante began the season with a bang but has struggled to exert his influence since, at least not as far as fantasy points are concerned. The trip to Girona will be a real test, but offers a great platform for Escalante to get back to his best.

ST - Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)
Just like Bartra previously, this weekend’s game gives the Frenchman a chance to get kicking on. Atleti need to be a touch more clinical, and have a real chance of hitting the net if Griezmann and co are on form.

ST - Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
Benzema‘s 15 points so far this season have come from just two of his appearances, but having started all games so far he should get plenty of game time as Los Blancos travel to impressive Alaves.

ST - Iker G. Muniain (Athletic Bilbao)
Muniain hasn’t done too much since scoring against Real Madrid a couple of weeks ago, but a home match against Real Sociedad will give him a great chance to add to his tally of seven fantasy points so far this season.
