La Liga Best XI – Week 7

detomasFollowing on from some exciting performances and high scoring games in recent weeks, La Liga went through a weekend of something like the status quo without too many majorly surprising results this past weekend. Sevilla did well to record a 3-1 win at Eibar, while El Derbi Madrileño finished goalless at the Santiago Bernabeu. Valencia did manage to reward their fans for the patience shown in the early stages of this campaign by notching up their first win of the campaign, a 1-0 victory at Real Sociedad, and Athletic Bilbao did well to secure a point following their 1-1 draw against Barcelona at the Nou Camp. Utilising a 4-3-3 this week, let’s take a look at the best La Liga best XI from round 7!

GK - Joel Robles (Real Betis)
The 2.5m rated goalkeeper was the least expensive to keep a clean sheet this past weekend, with Betis securing a 1-0 home win over Leganes. This was the former Everton keeper’s first start of the season – great way to kick things off!

DF - Mouctar Diakhaby (Valencia)
As mentioned in the intro, Valencia finally earned their first win of the season at Real Sociedad, in what was their third clean sheet. At 4m, Diakhaby was the best value defender in La Liga this past weekend with five points.

DF - Antoñito (Real Valladolid)
Antoñito was playing in just his second game of the season so far, as Valladolid kept a great clean sheet at Villarreal as they battled their way to a 1-0 win. At 5m, his five points mean he was the second best value behind Diakhaby.

DF - Gimenez (Atletico Madrid)
Former Danubio defender Gimenez  earned himself five points as well as Atletico kept Los Blancos out in the Madrid Derby. The goalless draw may have been a disappointing outcome for both sides, but Gimenez can take pride in a job well done.

DF - Marc Bartra (Real Betis)
Bartra makes it onto this list once again as Betis won 1-0 at home against Leganes. That earned the 27-year-old ex-Barcelona defender five points of his own, for just a 6.5m investment.

MF - Ever Banega (Sevilla)
Something of a favourite with the Euro Fantasy League Podcast, Banega  was the runaway best midfielder in La Liga this weekend with seven points. He scored twice in Sevilla’s 3-1 victory at Eibar, but lost a point for being booked.

MF - Oscar de Marcos (Athletic Bilbao)
de Marcos had a great game as Bilbao took a point home with them from the Nou Camp – no mean feat at all! He scored the visitors’ goal in that 1-1 draw, earning himself four point for a 5m outlay.

MF - André Silva (Sevilla)
Another Sevilla star entering this week’s midfield, Silva earned four points for having scored their other goal in that 3-1 win at Eibar. 5.5m could prove fantasy money well spent!

ST - Kevin Gameiro (Valencia)
Gameiro  scored the only goal of the game as visiting Valencia took all three points for the first time this season at Real Sociedad, securing his place in this weekend’s La Liga Best XI with four points.

ST - Munir El Haddadi (Barcelona)
El Haddadi continues the growing tradition of Barcelona forwards making this weekly list, having scored Barcelona’s goal in their 1-1 home draw against Athletic Bilbao. At 5.5m, these four points imply he could be worth a second look!

ST - Raúl de Tomás (Rayo Vallecano)
de Tomás rounds off this week’s La Liga Best XI, with his goal in the 2-2 draw against Espanyol – arguably La Liga’s game of the weekend – earning him four points as well.
