Serie A Injury Report – Round 12


Juventus: Sami Khedira (hamstring) and Mario Mandzukic (ankle) played in Champions League, while Douglas Costa was ruled out for another thigh problem, same for Moise Kean. They are unlikely to be available for the weekend. Federico Bernardeschi is questionable for the muscular ailment that has been bugging him for a while.

Inter:  Radja Nainggolan started against Barcelona, but he is still less than 100 percent because of the recent ankle sprain so he could be rested.

Napoli: Dries Mertens subbed off versus PSG because of a bruised shoulder, but he avoided further complications and should be good to go for the weekend. Faouzi Ghoulam and Alex Meret have picked up some call-ups here and there, but they are expected to be up to speed only after the break. Simone Verdi (thigh) is unlikely to feature against Genoa. Amin Younes (Achilles) needs more time to recover.

Milan: Gonzalo Higuain was kneed in the back against Udinese, but he is expected to play against Juventus. Mateo Musacchio has suffered a PCL tear in his right knee and will rehab for six-to-eight weeks. There is more pessimism regarding Hakan Calhanoglu, who received another knock on the ankle, Giacomo Bonaventura, who missed the last few games because of knee soreness, and Davide Calabria, who is dealing with an ankle sprain, but the right back is making some progress. Patrick Cutrone’s bad ankle flared up again. Lucas Biglia underwent surgery to repair a torn myotendinous junction in his calf and will be out for four months.

Lazio:  Felipe Caicedo did not play in the midweek game because of an thigh issue and should be considered doubtful for the week. Milan Badelj and Lucas Leiva have recovered quickly from their thigh problems and could feature in the weekend. Senad Lulic has shaken off a calf ailment. 

Sassuolo:  Mehdi Bourabia was sidelined by a muscular injury last week and should remain on the shelf, like Jeremie Boga that is recovering for a tibia surgery.

Torino: Soualiho Meitè is suspended, but no other absences for Walter Mazzarri.

Fiorentina: Christian Norgaard was in the squad list last week after missing time with a LCL sprain. Cyril Thereau and Riccardo Sottil have not been called up to face Frosinone.

Roma: Diego Perotti (calf) and Rick Kardsorp (thigh) have a shot at being in the squad list following their muscular injuries, while Daniele De Rossi has an achy knee that should keep him out again. Luca Pellegrini is not expected back from an ankle sprain.

Atalanta:  Rafael Toloi rolled an ankle in the last game and he is questionable for Inter match, but he in trending in the right direction. Andrea Masiello is slated to skip another one, like Arkadiusz Reca and Marco Tumminello.

Sampdoria:  Edgar Barreto suffered a thigh flexor strain and will try to recover for the first game after the break.

Parma: Leo Stulac is suspended this week. Roberto Inglese should be ready for a bigger load after a limited cameo last week because of back pain. Jacopo Dezi is close to coming back from a back injury that has forced to miss every game so far.

Genoa: Sandro suffered a thigh (biceps femoris) strain that will keep him out this week and put his presence in the Derby in jeopardy. Federico Marchetti (thigh), Andrea Favilli (knee) and Nicolas Spolli (thigh) are set to be out again with their various issues.

Cagliari: Diego Farias (calf), Ragnar Klavan (Achilles) and Charalampos Lykogiannis (calf) are unlikely to return this week.

SPAL: Everton Luiz is suspended. Johan Djourou has shaken off an ankle sprain and Jasmin Kurtic could be called up after a lengthy absence because of an elbow fracture. Mattia Valoti is at risk because of an ankle sprain.

Udinese: Antonin Barak is dealing with severe back pain that should sideline him again. Bram Nuytinck is suspended. Giuseppe Pezzella should be in the squad list after sitting because of a quad strain.

Bologna: Danilo was called up but did not play in the last game and he is not fully back after a thigh pull. Federico Mattiello is set to be out again with a calf strain.

Empoli: Levan Mchedlidze is headed to the stands for one more game because of a thigh strain.

Frosinone: Camillo Ciano has been ruled out for a thigh injury, but it should be just a one-game absence. Stipe Perica is the squad list after being out with knee soreness. Cristian Molinaro was in the squad list last week, but he is out in this one because of some quad muscle fatigue. Emil Hallfredsson (knee tendinopathy) and Joaquin Ardaiz (thigh strain) remain sidelined.

Chievo: like in the previous weeks, Fabrizio Cacciatore (calf) and Nenad Tomovic (thigh) questionable because he is struggling to get past their strains. Federico Barba could return after missing one, while Nicola Rigoni and Manuel Pucciarelli (knee) have fewer chances. Strahinja Tanasijevic is disqualified, Pawel Jaroszynski is banged up.
