Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 21

Juventus: Mario Mandzukic is trying to come back from high strain, but it might be too early. Miralem Pjanic and Joao Cancelo are dealing with minor calf ailments, while Sami Khedira has a sore knee: they are unlikely to be available this week, but the fullback has a shot. Medhi Benatia (groin), Andrea Barzagli (thigh) and Juan Cuadrado (knee) remain out.

Napoli: Marek Hamsik will return from a thigh strain, while Allan is experiencing some back pain and has been ruled out.

Inter: Balde Keita (thigh) will not be able to come back this week, while Sime Vrsaljko is under the weather and also nursing an achy knee. Matteo Politano is fatigued. 

Milan:  Christian Zapata suffered a thigh (biceps femoris) strain that will force him to miss up to 20 days.

Roma: Cengiz Under picked up a thigh (rectus femoris) strain that will sideline him for two or three weeks. Alessandro Florenzi and Federico Fazio both had the flu, but they should be fine. Daniele De Rossi has resumed practicing in the last couple of weeks, so he might be called up. Diego Perotti (thigh) and Juan Jesus (knee) are on the mend. The coach revealed that Florenzi and Pellegrini are dealing with unspecified issues. 

Lazio: Francesco Acerbi and Adam Marusic are suspended. Luiz Felipe suffered a thigh strain that will force him to sit out a couple of matches.

Atalanta:  Remo Freuler is not expected to return this week from his thigh issue, but he has been called up.

Sampdoria: Gianluca Caprari fractured his fibula in practice, underwent surgery and will be out for about two months. Gaston Ramirez is disqualified. Karol Linetty should be able to come back after missing one with an ankle sprain, while Jacopo Sala is questionable because of a gluteus injury. Edgar Barreto remains iffy.

Parma: Antonino Barillà is trying to shake off some muscle fatigue, while Leo Stulac and Luca Rigoni recently sprained an ankle and are very iffy. Simone Iacoponi has the flu.

Fiorentina:  Cristiano Biraghi and Edimilson Fernandes are suspended.

Torino: Souhaliho Meitè will serve the second game of his suspension. Daniele Baselli has good chances to be available after being out with a hip injury. Vittorio Parigini has some muscular issues.

Sassuolo: Stefano Sensi is disqualified and also rolled his ankle in the last game. Alfred Duncan subbed off in the last game, but he was diagnosed only with a minor calf issue and he will be available. Federico Di Francesco will after skipping one.

Cagliari: Ragnar Klavan underwent surgery due to Achilles tendinopathy and will be on the shelf for at least a couple of months. Allberto Cerri (thigh), Marco Andreolli (ankle) and Marco Sau (knee) are slated to miss another one.

Genoa: newcomer Stefano Sturaro is out indefinitely with an Achilles injury that sidelined for his whole Sporting CP stint. Oscar Hiljemark underwent hip surgery due to an impingement and will miss the remainder of the season. Sandro and Davide Biraschi are fatigued, but the defender is expected to play. Andrea Favilli is out with a thigh injury.

Udinese: Kevin Lasagna has a bruised shoulder but he will be at his coach’s disposal. Antonin Barak returned in Udine but continues to be hampered by back pain.

SPAL:  Thiago Cionek is suspended, while Francesco Vicari pulled his thigh late in the week.

Empoli: Domenico Maietta and Leonardo Capezzi are out with thigh injuries, while Luca Antonelli and Levan Mchedlidze have been called up.

Bologna: Blerin Dzemaili is set to sit another one due to a calf ailment.

Frosinone: Francesco Zampano (thigh) and Lorenzo Ariaudo (ankle) might skip another one, while Daniel Ciofani could return after a thigh issue. Niccolò Brighenti picked up a thigh problem.

Chievo: Mattia Bani and Sofian Kiyine are suspended. Among the injured players, Federico Barba and Manuel Pucciarelli have recovered, while Fabrizio Cacciatore (calf) and Joel Obi (thigh) are still out.
