Serie A Fantasy Predictions – Round 15

juventusinter

The next round features one of the games of the season, Juventus-Inter, and few other juicy match-ups.

Juventus-Inter: the Bianconeri got the better of Fiorentina, extending their winning streak to five fixtures, but in that occasion they were not as dominant as the final score showed. Against Roma, Inter dropped points for the second time in a row on the road and, despite scoring twice, they never looked in control. The same thing happened in Bergamo, but they are extremely opportunistic, so they can never be counted out. Cristiano Ronaldo added one to his tally with a penalty in Florence, while Rodrigo Bentancur continues to impress. Mario Mandzukic is generally money in big matches, while Douglas Costa has the potential to be a factor off the bench. Despite being useful in other areas, Paulo Dybala’s offensive stats in Serie A have been subpar. Continue reading

Serie A Fantasy Predictions – Round 12

milanjuventus

The next slate before another international break is pretty juicy.

Genoa-Napoli: the Griffon have not won in four games and the effects of the coaching change have not been palpable, since they continue to concede a lot. They lost twice in San Siro last week and the schedule does not do them any favor. The Partenopei easily romped Empoli last week and have won three out of their last four games, looking splendid at times. Krzysztof Piatek has not scored for four games in a row, which is unlikely to be a coincidence, and their last goals under Milan Juric have been pretty random, by Cristian Romero on a free kick, by Romulo on a penalty and by Daniel Bessa on a defensive mishap. Serie A Fantasy Predictions – Round 11

romafiorentina

Just a pair of juicy match-ups on deck this week, while the top teams will try to take advantage of cozy fixtures on paper.

Napoli-Empoli: the Partenopei were not super sharp versus Roma, they salvaged a draw but could have probably done more if they did not put themselves in the predicament of having to come back. It was the first time they dropped points at home. Empoli have not won since the first game, but they certainly put up a fight against Juventus before Cristiano Ronaldo decided to win it. Serie A Fantasy Predictions – Round 10

napoliroma

The next Serie A round features few titillating match-ups.

Empoli-Juventus: the Azzurri’s talented offence showed up in Frosinone, but this time they were held back by their back-line. They have won just once so far, in the season opener, and lost five times. The Old Lady dropped point for the first time against Genoa, but then bounced back in Champions League. The Bianconeri are pretty short-handed due to injuries, this could be the right spot for Federico Bernardeschi or Douglas Costa because they have not gotten many minutes in the last two fixtures. Serie A Fantasy Predictions – Round 9

udinesenapoli

Serie A returns with a pretty decent slate capped off by the mouth-watering Milan derby on Sunday night.

Roma-Spal: the Giallorossi have solved some of their initial problems and have put together a three-game winning streak, defeating Frosinone, Lazio and Empoli. The Estensi are going in opposite direction, since have suffered four straight losses, to Fiorentina, Sassuolo, Sampdoria and Inter, after a hot start. Eusebio Di Francesco seems to have found the right scheme for his men, a 4-2-3-1 with Lorenzo Pellegrini in the hole. The youngster has been remarkable filling in for the injured Javier Pastore, to the point that there is a real competition here. Continue reading

Serie A Fantasy Game Predictions – Round 5

sampdoriainter

There are not any mammoth clash this week, but a pair of match-up could turn to be very succulent.

Sampdoria-Inter: if it was not for the tumble they took in Udine in their season opener, the Blucerchiati would be regarded as one of the most impressive squads in Serie A, considering they how they dusted Napoli and Frosinone and came back against Fiorentina. Their attack is humming: Gregoire Defrel, Fabio Quagliarella, Gianluca Caprari and Dawid Kownacki have all already found the target at least once and the former Roma and Sassuolo striker is raining fire.  Continue reading

Serie A Club of the Round – Sampdoria

sampdoriafrosinone

There was the international break in between, but Sampdoria are the first club this season to earn the shout-out twice in a row. While the first one, which came against Napoli, was a little unexpected, the eruption versus Frosinone was more predictable. The had troubles maintained a high level of performances on the road last season, but they took advantage of a cozy match-up in this case.

Marco Giampaolo confirmed most of his line-up from the previous fixture, but this time chose Omar Colley over Lorenzo Tonelli, who had a physical hiccup during the week, and Gianluca Caprari as attacking midfielder instead of Gaston Ramirez, while Riccardo Saponara was out with a hamstring strain. Serie A Fantasy Recap – Round 4

dimarco

Standings implications: Juventus racked up their fourth win against Sassuolo, while Napoli bounced back versus Fiorentina. As a consequence of these two results, the Bianconeri are the only undefeated team in Serie A. Inter, Roma and Milan were unable to keep up as the Nerazzuri’s attack sputtered again in the Parma game and they ended up being defeated by a wondergoal, while La Lupa frittered away a two-nothing lead at home against Chievo. The Rossoneri came back in Sardinia but were unable to prevail. Lazio grabbed their second win a row despite an underwhelming performance.
