Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 29

Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo picked up a thigh strain while playing with Portugal and is unlikely to play in the next three games. Sami Khedira has been cleared to practice after a heart problem, but it will take him a little longer before playing. Douglas Costa (quad, calf), Juan Cuadrado (knee) and Andrea Barzagli (calf) remain sidelined, while Mattia De Sciglio has recovered from a thigh pull.

Napoli: Fabian Ruiz will be available after a tough flu. Lorenzo Insigne was on track to play but suffered a relapse of a thigh contracture. David Ospina was hospitalized for a concussion after the Udinese match, he has been released since then but might not be called up this week. Amadou Diawara (foot fracture), Raul Albiol (patellar tendon clean-up surgery) and Vlad Chiriches will probably miss the next three games. Piotr Zielinski is suspended. Faouzi Ghoulam is in a clinic in Antwerp for a specific strengthening protocol.

Inter: Lautaro Martinez and Stefan De Vrij suffered small thigh injuries with their national teams and have been ruled out for the Lazio clash and could potentially be out for two weeks. Radja Nainggolan is still questionable with the calf injury he endured before the break, but he is available. Joao Miranda should be good to go after a nose fracture. Mauro Icardi resumed practicing fully this week, but he has not been called. Marcelo Brozovic played with no issues with Croatia after subbing off in the Derby.

Milan: Lucas Paqueta easily recovered from the thigh problem he suffered against Inter. Ricardo Rodriguez bowed out of a Switzerland game but there is not much concern about his status.

Roma: Alessandro Florenzi and Stephan El Shaarawy suffered calf strains while practicing this Italy and are highly unlikely to feature in the next three fixtures. Aleksandar Kolarov, Kostas Manolas, Javier Pastore, Daniele De Rossi and Lorenzo Pellegrini were all dealing with muscular problems before the break: the first four have a shot to be part of the squad, Pellegrini is doubtful. Cengiz Under has finally recuperated from a thigh strain.

Lazio: Stefan Radu sprained an ankle during a friendly, but he should be able to recover, same for Lucas Leiva and Adam Marusic who are a little dinged up. Patric has the flu. Valon Berisha could be back from a calf issue.

Atalanta: Rafael Toloi had solved a thigh injury, but stopped again for an ankle sprain. Josip Ilicic has some knee soreness but it should not stop him from competing.

Torino: Ola Aina was slapped with a three-game suspension, while Nicolas N’Koulou is disqualified just for this one.

Sampdoria: Gaston Ramirez and Riccardo Saponara have shaken off their thigh problems, but Albin Ekdal and Ronaldo Vieira picked up knee bruises during the break and could both be out of commission, but the coach has not ruled out a quick recovery. Bartosz Bereszynski had a severe case of flu in Poland, which might hold him out this week. Edgar Barreto and Riccardo Caprari (fibula) remain on the mend.

Fiorentina: German Pezzella is disqualified. Federico Chiesa left the Azzurri camp due to a groin problem and is questionable, although it is not believed to be a severe one. Alban Lafont will be back between the sticks after missing a pair with an ankle sprain. Edimilson Fernandes is still iffy.

Parma: Roberto Inglese suffered an ankle sprain during the break, Jonathan Biabiany a knee one: they will be evaluated by specialists in the next few days and could potentially be out of commission for a prolonged stretch. Antonino Barillà should be back from a thigh injury, while Bruno Alves should be fine despite a muscular hiccup in the last two weeks. Leo Stulac will be out a little longer with a calf strain.

Genoa: Andrea Favilli has recovered from a thigh injury but will play with the youth team.

Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi and Alfred Duncan skipped some practice time with unspecified problems and are at risk. Rogerio (foot contusion), Francesco Magnanelli (ribs fracture) and Enrico Brignola (broken hand) have shaken off their injuries. Claud Adjapong sprained his ankle with U-21 Italy and will likely be out for a while.

Cagliari: Leonardo Pavoletti is disqualified. Kiril Despodov, Alberto Cerri and Luca Pellegrini have recovered from their thigh ailments, so Ragnar Klavan (Achilles) is the only injured player besides Lucas Castro, who is out for the season.

SPAL: Mattia Valoti remains questionable with an achy knee that sidelined him before the break.

Udinese: Valon Behrami (thigh), Samir (ankle) and Badu (knee) should be back in the squad list after missing quite some time, especially the last two. Marco D’Alessandro (calf) and Bram Nuytinck (thigh) are trying to speed up their timetables, but they could be out again.

Empoli: Matias Silvestre is suspended. Antonino La Gumina is out for at least a month with an LCL sprain, although he will not undergo surgery. Luca Antonelli has a shot to recover from a thigh sprain. Kevin Diks has a sore knee.

Bologna: Lyanco is disqualified. Federico Santander dislocated his shoulder before the break, but he has an outside chance to return here. Filip Helander and Blerin Dzemaili had small issues but should be okay for this round.

Frosinone: Edoardo Goldaninga is suspended. Andrea Pinamonti, Federico Viviani (knee), Paolo Sammarco (thigh) and Paolo Ghiglione (thigh) are all expected to be called up after missing time. Mirko Gori suffered a severe ankle sprain that will cost him few matches.

Chievo: Mattia Bani (thigh) and Marco Andreolli (head) have recuperated, while Nenad Tomovic (thigh) stays on the shelf.
