Serie A Injury and Suspension Report

Atalanta: Josip Ilicic lost the appeal so he will serve the second game of his suspension. Ruslan Malinovskyi is disqualified as well. Duvan Zapata is not ready after missing time with a thigh strain despite the early optimism, while Luis Muriel and Remo Freuler, who picked up some muscular ailments with their national teams, should be fine. 

Bologna: Mattia Bani and Danilo are banned. Takehiro Tomiyasu is poised to come back from a thigh strain, while Federico Santander suffered the same injury few days ago and will miss three weeks. Roberto Soriano and Mitchell Dijks will miss another one due to a knee and toe edema respectively, also Mattia Destro remains on the shelf due to knee soreness.

Brescia: Jhon Chancellor (thigh) and Ernesto Torregrossa (quad) have shaken off the injuries that sidelined them, while Ales Mateju is suspended. Mario Balotelli had an argument with the coach and he might be excluded as a punishment.

Cagliari: Nahitan Nandez might be able to recover very quickly from a thigh problem he suffered two weeks ago. Fabio Pisacane is fatigued and Lucas Castro has the flu, but they are currently expected to be available. Luca Pellegrini is instead more in doubt after spraining his ankle with Italy: he has been ruled out. Valter Birsa fractured his hand and will miss up to a month. Luca Ceppitelli continues to deal with plantar fasciitis.

Fiorentina: Gaetano Castrovilli and Erick Pulgar are disqualified.

Genoa: Christian Kouame tore the left ACL while playing in the U-23 AFCON and his season is likely over. Domenico Criscito and Andrea Favilli were close before the break and they are now to return from thigh injuries. Riccardo Saponara missed one with a back problem, but he is good to go. Stefano Sturaro is making progress as well after an ACL tear and might be in the squad list.

Inter: Stefano Sensi (thigh), Kwadwo Asamoah (knee) and Roberto Gagliardini (thigh) will not be able to return from their injuries.

Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to be managed due to a knee problem and he is out for this one. Blaise Matuidi recovered from a rib cartilage fracture and also Miralem Pjanic should be fine despite a muscular hiccup with Bosnia. On the other hand, Alex Sandro will miss one with an adductor injury and Adrien Rabiot joins him on the mend with muscle fatigue. Juan Cuadrado was hit in the back in the last Colombia match.

Lazio: Stefan Radu has recovered from his thigh strain, while Adam Marusic could require a little more time.

Lecce: Filippo Falco is nursing an MCL sprain and will be out for a while. Diego Farias and Andrea Tabanelli should be available after muscular injuries. Biagio Meccariello, Matteo Mancosu, Khouma Babacar and Zan Majer: in the bunch, the defender has been the only able to recuperate and make the squad list. 

Milan: Ismael Bennacer and Hakan Calhanoglu are suspended. Mateo Musacchio is back from a thigh problem, Fabio Borini and Samu Castillejo will miss some more time. Leo Duarte (heel) and Ricardo Rodriguez have been ruled out with last-minute problems. 

Napoli: Kostas Manolas solved his ailments during the break and also Allan is trending in the right direction after a knee sprain. Arkadiusz Milik is dealing with a tricky groin/abdominal strain and will likely skip one. Dries Mertens had a scare with Belgium but he is fine, while Faouzi Ghoulam will probably remain on the shelf because of a thigh problem. Mario Rui has been ruled out with a thigh injury. 

Parma: Gervinho has not recovered from his thigh strain and Andreas Cornelius sustained one with his national team. Giuseppe Pezzella had some gastroenteritis but should be okay. Roberto Inglese (ankle) and Yann Karamoh (ankle) will miss multiple more games. Hernani is suspended. Alberto Grassi is back a month removed from knee surgery. 

Roma: Lorenzo Pellegrini (toe fracture) is slated to come back on the pitch after months on the disabled list, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan needs more time. Leonardo Spinazzola is out with a muscular problem, Javier Pastore with a hip one. 

Sampdoria: Bartosz Bereszynski suffered a meniscus tear and he will likely come back in 2020. Federico Bonazzoli will need close to a month to return from his thigh strain. Edgar Barreto picked up a muscular problem that will sideline him.

Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi picked up a thigh strain in the last game and will sit out one or two matches. Gregoire Defrel badly sprained his ankle and will be sidelined for multiple weeks. In their slew of injured players, Gianmarco Ferrari suffered a relapse of his problem. Luca Mazzitelli is the closest to return. Rogerio (knee) and Vlad Chiriches (thigh) instead need more time. Hamed Traore will probably be unavailable since he will come back to Italy late because of the final of the U-23 AFCON, although it will be a last-minute call.

SPAL: Thiago Cionek and Nenad Tomovic are suspended. Andrea Petagna and Gabriel Strefezza are recovering from tonsillitis and a quad contusion respectively and should be able to feature on Monday night. Gabriele Moncini is instead being evaluated for a thigh injury.

Torino: Daniele Baselli has returned from an ankle sprain, while Kevin Bonifazi is nearing a comeback after a hand fracture, but he is not available this week. Diego Laxalt suffered a thigh strain and will be out for three-to-four weeks, while it might take Lyanco longer to nurse the MCL sprain he sustained during the break.

Udinese: Rodrigo Becao and Stefano Okaka are disqualified. Ken Sema (thigh) and Ignacio Pussetto (ankle) are questionable.

Verona: Miguel Veloso (calf) and Marash Kumbulla (thigh) suffered strains before the break and it is not certain they will be ready for this one. Emmanuel Badu (lungs), Daniel Bessa (thigh) and Ludomir Tupta (knee) are still ways away.
