Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 16

Atalanta: Josip Ilicic is out due to a thigh pull and their president confirmed that Duvan Zapata will be back in early 2020. Alejandro Gomez is out because of a knock. 

Bologna: Ladislav Krejci and Roberto Soriano have resumed practicing after their knee problems and could be in the squad list over the weekend.

Brescia: Andrea Cistana is suspended, Alfredo Donnarumma is fatigued but should be available.

Cagliari: Robin Olsen’s suspension was upheld so he will miss two more matches and Marko Rog will join him on the stands for yellow-card accumulation. Luca Ceppitelli (plantar fasciitis) and Lucas Castro (muscle fatigue) are questionable, Valter Birsa will miss another one with a hand fracture.

Fiorentina: Franck Ribery will undergo ankle surgery after trying to rehab for a couple of weeks. He is set to miss 45-to-60 days. Kevin-Prince Boateng will be back after missing last week’s game and German Pezzella will return after a facial fracture.

Genoa: Goran Pandev was hit with a two-game suspension, while Kevin Agudelo is banned for one.  Marko Pajac quickly shook off a small ailment, while Riccardo Saponara will miss another one with an ankle sprain. Lukas Lerager is iffy as he is dealing with sports hernia-like symptoms.

Inter: Kwadwo Asamoah is nursing knee chondropathy which will have to be managed throughout the season. Roberto Gagliardini has a chance to be available after a foot sprain.

Juventus: Miralem Pjanic and Juan Cuadrado are suspended. Rodrigo Bentancur might be able to recover very quickly from a MCL injury and also Aaron Ramsey and Douglas Costa could make the squad list following their thigh injuries.

Lazio: Adam Marusic recovered from a thigh injury but picked up an ankle one. Patric (calf) and Jordan Lukaku (knee) are questionable.

Lecce: Fabio Lucioni and Jacopo Petriccione are suspended. Biagio Meccariello and Marco Mancosu remain sidelined. Giannelli Imbula sustained an ailment late in the week and he is not available as well.

Milan: no injuries other than Leo Duarte who will be sidelined for a long time.

Napoli: Arkadiusz Milik (abdomen) and Allan (ribs) came back in the Champions League tilt. Faouzi Ghoulam has resumed training partially after a rectus femoris problem. Nikola Maksimovic will serve a two-game suspension.

Parma: Juraj Kucka suffered a calf strain and will most likely miss the remaining two matches of 2019. Similar timetable for Roberto Inglese (ankle) and Yann Karamoh (knee). Matteo Scozzarella should be fitter than last week. Matteo Scozzarella was in the squad list last week but a recent calf strain is still bothering him. 

Roma: Gianluca Mancini is disqualified. Lorenzo Pellegrini has a bruised foot but should be able to play, while Justin Kluivert will be held out again by a thigh edema. Javier Pastore is poised to skip another one due to a hip contusion and will likely be joined on the shelf by Chris Smalling, who sprained his left knee in practice.

Sampdoria: Fabio Depaoli is making strides in his recovery from a high-ankle sprain and Edgar Barreto is inching closer after a muscular issue.

Sassuolo: Andrea Consigli remains questionable with the adductor issue that forced him to miss two matches and Marlon is uncertain because of fatigue. Gregoire Defrel (ankle) and Vlad Chiriches will not be back this week.

SPAL: Federico Di Francesco (thigh) and Gabriel Strefezza (quad) have gotten in some limited practices and so they are getting closer to coming back, while Arkadiusz Reca (thigh) and Jacopo Sala (thigh) might need another week. Jasmin Kurtic is suspended.

Torino: Lorenzo De Silvestri subbed off last week but his knee injury turned out to be just a knock and he might not miss time. Andrea Belotti is on his way to a full recovery from a chest hematoma but will be a game-time decision, like Sasa Lukic after a blow to the knee. Kevin Bonifazi, Simone Edera and Vittorio Parigini are all on the wrong side of questionable with muscular problems.

Udinese: Rodrigo De Paul is a bit fatigued but should be available, while Samir, Ken Sema and Mato Jajalo have slim chances for the Juventus match.

Verona: Pawel Dawidowicz is suspended and nobody will be back in their slew of long-term injured players.
