Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round Six

Atalanta: Marten De Roon strained the adductor in his left thigh and will sit out the next two matches. Cristiano Piccini picked up a similar issue while trying to gain some shape. Robin Gosens is out with a late calf problem. 

Benevento: Iago Falque and Federico Barba will stay on the mend with their physical issues, while Gabriel Moncini returned midweek. 

Bologna: Federico Santander underwent reconstructive surgery on the right knee after spraining it midweek and will return in the Spring. Among their injured players, Gary Medel (calf) is the closest to recovering, but he might need another week. Andreas Skov Olsen (back) and Andrea Poli (fibula) could return after the second international break. Ibrahima Mbaye (thigh) and Nicola Sansone (hip) are late scratches. 

Cagliari: Gaston Pereiro has resumed working with the rest of the group after an off-season metatarsal fracture in the right foot and will be called up soon. Zito Luvumbo suffered a rectus femoris strain and his debut will be further delayed. Luca Ceppitelli (thigh) and Simone Pinna (knee) are out as well. Alessandro Tripaldelli has been ruled out for unknown reasons. 

Crotone: Luca Cigarini was sent off last week. Emmanuel Riviere suffered a thigh strain immediately after returning from a calf one, therefore he is back on the shelf with a three-to-four week timetable. Koffi Djidji has always been unavailable so far, maybe for COVID-related reasons. Salvatore Molina tested positive on Friday. 

Fiorentina: German Pezzella had surgery to clean up the right ankle after a pair of injuries and it is unknown how much time he will miss. Pol Lirola is questionable due to a knock in the same area and Borja Valero continues to deal with a muscular issue. Franck Ribery returned midweek from his ailment.

Genoa: they have no more COVID cases, with Petar Brlek and Darian Males being the latest ones to shake it off. However, Davide Zappacosta will miss a pair of tilts due to a rectus femoris train in the right thigh, Eldor Shomurodov with a flexor one. Mattia Bani and Luca Pellegrini are banged up as well, Stefano Sturaro has not finished off his recovery from a thigh strain.

Inter: Romelu Lukaku picked up an adductor problem in the right thigh and will be unavailable this week. Stefano Sensi is out as well with an unspecified left thigh issue, while Alexis Sanchez (thigh contracture) has some chances to be at his coach’s disposal. Roberto Gagliardini will come back after COVID, while Milan Skriniar is still positive after over three weeks.

Juventus: Giorgio Chiellini has returned to full training, but he will be held out until he is fully recovered, like Matthijs De Ligt (shoulder). Cristiano Ronaldo turned negative and will be available, but the coach said that he probably will not start. 

Lazio: Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto, Thomas Strakosha, Lucas Leiva, Luiz Felipe, Manuel Lazzari, Danilo Cataldi and Djavan Anderson were not allowed to play in Champions League either due to illnesses or positive tests, but the club is hoping for the situation to improve after further swabs. Most of them, but Alberto, Lazzari, Anderson and Dennis Vavro, were at the training center Saturday. Gonzalo Escalante (thigh), Stefan Radu (thigh), Stefano Lulic (ankle) and Silvio Proto (arm) are out for different reasons.

Milan: Ante Rebic will likely make his return from an elbow dislocation. Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jens-Petter Hauge and Matteo tested negative for COVID and the first two could be cleared for the upcoming contest. Mateo Musacchio is completing his recovery from ankle surgery.

Napoli: Lorenzo Insigne had a relapse of his thigh injury in Europa League and he will soon undergo some tests. The initial indication is that the problem is not as severe, but he can already be ruled out for this round. Piotr Zielinski and Elijf Elmas played in Europa League.

Parma: Lautaro Valenti, Yordan Osorio and Jacopo Dezi turned negative and are available, Roberto Inglese, Juan Brunetta and Bruno Alves will instead remain sidelined. Vincent Laurini, Maxime Busi and Valentin Mihaila are on the shelf with muscular injuries, Simone Colombi due to a bruised shoulder, Hans Nicolussi Caviglia because of tonsillitis. 

Roma: Davide Santon picked up a flexor problem in the left thigh. Riccardo Calafiori and Amadou Diawara are on the mend with COVID.

Sampdoria: Antonio Candreva is trying to shake off a nagging biceps femoris issue. Adrien Silva hurt his ankle in Coppa Italia but should be fine. Manolo Gabbiadini remains sidelined with a sore groin.

Sassuolo: Lukas Haraslin tested positive, joining Jeremy Toljan on the COVID list. Nicolas Schiappacasse remains out, Gregoire Defrel has been called up for there are not many certainties about his condition. Stars Francesco Caputo, Filip Djuricic and Domenico Berardi have been ruled out for unspecified issues. 

Spezia: Giulio Maggiore and Riccardo Marchizza have cleared the Coronavirus protocol: the former is out, the latter is available. Jacopo Sala suffered an adductor strain in the left thigh and will skip the next two contests. Federico Mattiello (calf), Gennaro Acampora (thigh) and Giuseppe Mastinu (ankle) remains sidelined with their respective injuries. Jeroen Zoet, Andrej Galabinov and Juan Ramos are likely to return only after the break due to their thigh injuries. Martin Erlic tested positive late last week. Leo Sena and Ardian Ismajli were used in Coppa Italia for the first time this season.

Torino: Armando Izzo’s return has been delayed by a bruised knee. Karol Linetty bruised his right foot in Coppa Italia, while Amer Gojak is fatigued, but they have recovered in time. Simone Zaza and Vincenzo Millico are out.

Udinese: Juan Musso has recuperated quickly from a meniscus tear and should be between the sticks Sunday. Bram Nuytinck is finally available after a quad injury, while Walace is back on the shelf with a new thigh injury and is joined by Mamadou Coulibaly and Stefan Prodl. 

Verona: Andrea Favilli suffered a thigh strain while scoring in the Juventus game and will be back after the break. Matteo Lovato sprained his right knee and Federico Ceccherini pulled his calf in the same match, but they are available. Davide Faraoni picked up a calf strain and will miss the next two matches, Kevin Ruegg will be on the shelf for significant time with a grade two thigh one. Mert Cetin (thigh), Miguel Veloso (calf) and Marco Benassi (calf) remain sidelined, but they will have Samuel Di Carmine back from a hip issue. Ronaldo Vieira suffered a muscular injury, Ebrima Colley is questionable with a hip contusion. Koray Gunter shook off COVID, but he is not ready.
