La Liga Weekend Picks – Round 9

cheryshev2The next round of La Liga fixtures is all set for this weekend, and so it is now time to take a look at which players may be worth giving a second look for inclusion into your fantasy teams over the coming days. La Liga bottom club Huesca face a difficult trip yo Espanyol, and while that may prove a tough test for the hosts they do not have the worst goalscoring record in the league. Villarreal, Valencia and Getafe have all been disappointing in front of goal this term, netting just six goals each so far. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, are the only side in the top six yet to reach double figures with their nine successful strikes so far, while Barcelona have scored the most on 10 – just a shade ahead of league leaders Sevilla on 18. Real Betis have scored the least in the league, though, with just five strikes. With that in mind, let’s take a 4-4-2 and get cracking.

diego

La Liga returns this weekend with some crucial fixtures, both at the top end of the table where Real Madrid have opened up a little gap on their nearest challengers Sevilla, and at the bottom end where Osasuna are in severe danger of becoming stranded at the bottom. We take a look at Sergio Asenjo, Jan Oblak, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Diego Lopez and Yoel.

Sergio Asenjo – Villarreal

Sergio Asenjo has been one of the most consistent performs in La Liga this season and he tops the charts for goalkeepers. He has amassed a total of 45 points and has kept 7 clean sheets so far which makes a mockerey of his value which is just 3.5M. He will line up for Villarreal this weekend against Deportivo la Coruna and he must come under serious consideration.

Jan Oblak – Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid keeper, Jan Oblak is a terrific player to have in goals for your team. They have the second best defence and have only conceded 14 goals this season with Oblak keeping seven clean sheets in his 15 starts. His Price/Performance ratio is 6.2 and with a home match against Real Betis, he must be in with a great chance of making it eight clean sheets.

Kepa Arrizabalaga – Athletic Bilbao

Kepa Arrizabalaga of Athletic Bilbao is one of the cheapest keepers in La Liga. Valued at just 1.5M, he has emerged as a first pick and the young keeper four clean sheets in eleven starts so far in this campaign. Atletic face Leganes who are without a win in their last seven matches and there is every chance Atletic Bilbao will emerge with three points from this match.

Yoel – Eibar

Yoel has returned to the Eibar side during a tough run of games and has kept one clean sheet in his last five. He is valued at 5.5M and with Eibar lining up against a Sporting Gijon side who have lost their last four on the bounce, this present a great chance of three points and a clean sheet for Yoel and Eibar.

Diego Lopez – Espanyol

Espanyol keeper Diego Lopez is the third top performing goal keeper this season in La Liga. He is valued at 5.5M and with seven clean sheets in fourteen starts, he represents terrific value. Espanyol have a match against Valencia, who are without a win in their last eight in La Liga and Lopez should be worth a second look.

Best Five Fantasy Football Strikers – La Liga – Round 15

terst

There were only two matches in the entire La Liga last weekend which saw clean sheets for the goal keepers. We take a look across La Liga here in the hope of finding games where the goal keeper has a good chance of keeping the ball out of the net. We feature Raúl Lizoain, Marc-André ter Stegen, Idriss Carlos Kameni, Diego Lopez and Gerónimo Rulli.
1. Raúl Lizoain: Las Palmas

Raúl Lizoain, who is valued at 2M, has started the last five matches for Las Palmas and has kept a clean sheet in two of those. His points tally of just six points is sure to improve, and with a home tie against a struggling Leganes this weekend, there is a great chance of him keeping a clean sheet this weekend.

2. Marc-André ter Stegen: Barcelona

Barcelona play bottom side Osasuna and as well being bottom, Osasuna have scored the fewest goals in La Liga. They will struggle against a Barcelona side who are needing the win to keep in touch with Real Madrid at the top and Marc-André ter Stegen has a terrific prospect of adding to his five clean sheets and points tally of 26 for the season so far. He can be picked up for 7.5M.

3. Idriss Carlos Kameni: Malaga

Idriss Carlos Kameni, who plays for Malaga has -2 points so far this season, but he has kept a clean sheet in two of his last five matches, Malaga take on Granada at home this weekend and they have only managed thirteen goals so far this season. This match is an ideal opportunity for Idriss Carlos Kameni to move into positive points for the season and improve his overall rating.

4. Diego Lopez: Espanyol

Diego Lopez is in terrific form, as are the Espanyol defence who have kept five clean sheets in their last five matches. He is valued at 5.5M and has a points return of 41 and with a home tie against Sporting Gijon, the chances of Espanyol making it six clean sheets in a row must be very high indeed.

5. Gerónimo Rulli: Real Sociedad

Gerónimo Rulli was on the wrong end of a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Deportivo La Coruna last weekend, however despite losing eight points for that performance, he is still among the top performers in La Liga this season. He is valued at just 2.5M and has a points tally of thirteen which may well improve this weekend as Real Sociedad take on Valencia who are struggling in La Liga this season.
