Best La Liga Goalkeepers so far this season

Sergio Asenjo

La Liga has entered the winter break, and there won’t be any games in the top tier of Spanish football until January 7.

Hence, instead of coming up with top five goalkeepers for the upcoming game week, we have decided to put together a list of top five goalkeepers in Spain this season.

The list contains players from some of the biggest names in Spain and some lesser known names. Here’s the list of the top five goalkeepers in La Liga this season.

Sergio Asenjo of Villarreal sits at the top of our list. He has kept seven clean sheets for the Yellow Submarines this season and has been one of their best players. He is valued at 3.5m and has accumulated 45 fantasy points this season. He is the cheapest goalkeeper in our list, and at his current price, he provides really good value for your money. But you are advised to stay away from him for the next game week as Villarreal’s next league game is against Barcelona.

Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak is next on the list with 36 points. He is available at a slightly expensive rate of 5.5m. The Slovenian has firmly established himself in Diego Simeone’s starting eleven and has emerged as one of the best goalkeepers in Spain in the last couple of years.

Diego Lopez of Espanyol is yet another famous name on our list. The Spaniard is third on the list with 35 points and costs 5.5m in fantasy football. He has kept seven clean sheets this season. His points tally took a hit last week as Barcelona defeated their Catalan neighbours 4-1 in a league clash.

Barcelona’s German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is the next goalkeeper on the list. Following Claudio Bravo’s departure to Man City, Ter Stegen has established himself as the club’s undisputed number one goalkeeper. He has been impressive this season and has managed six clean sheets. However, he is the most expensive goalkeeper in La Liga at 7.5m and, at this value, he doesn’t provide a good return on investment.

The last name in the list is that of Deportivo Alves goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco. The former Real Madrid man is one of the most in-form goalkeepers at the moment and has managed four clean sheets in his last six La Liga games. He has managed 27 points so far and is available at 6m.
