Barcelona swoop for Valencia defender Jeison Murillo

Barcelona have made their first move of the La Liga January 2019 transfer window, by bringing in 26 year old defender Jeison Murillo on a loan dea until the end of the season, from Valencia.

Colombian international Murillo has appeared just once in league action for Marcelino’s side so far this season, after joining from Italian side Inter Milan in the summer.

Murillo initially signed on a two year loan contract at the start of last season, with an obligation for Valencia to buy inserted into the details the deal.

Valencia exercised the purchase option at the start of the season, after he made 17 La Liga appearances in 2017-18, as they returned to the Top Four in Spain. However he has become more and more of a fringe player this season, and now Barcelona have accepted a purchase option on him at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

Alberto Moreno open to La Liga return

Spanish international Alberto Moreno has opened the door on a return to La Liga, after he outlined in a recent interview that he was considering an exit from Liverpool.

Moreno has firmly become second choice left back with the current Premier League leaders, following the outstanding form of Scotland captain Andrew Robertson in the past two seasons.

Injuries, Robertson’s form and a decline in performances when called upon, indicate that Moreno’s days at Anfield are numbered, a view he added weight to at the end of 2018.

‘Back on Track’ AC Milan owe much to Gattuso

AC Milan were whispered about as potential title challengers at the start of the season, based on transfers fees laid out and an apparent change in mentality at the club.

Much of the moves in the summer were motivated by a desire to get Milan ‘back to where they belong’ after seasons of underperformance and no Champions League football since 2014.
