Top Five Fantasy Football Defenders – Premier League – Week 23

Victor Wanyama
Last week saw only two teams out of top-six picking up maximum points. London clubs Chelsea and Arsenal occupy top two spots following wins on Sunday while the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester clubs all dropped points.

The Gameweek 23 of Premier League will be played during the midweek of 30Jan-1Feb. The highlight of the game week would be Chelsea’s trip to Liverpool. The top end of our list of best defenders in Premier League is overwhelmingly dominated by the Blues. However, we don’t expect the Blues to keep a clean sheet at Anfield and have decided to not include Cesar Azpilicueta and David Luiz in our fantasy football tips.

Here are our defensive picks for Premier League game week 23.

1. Marcus Alonso (Chelsea)

The Spaniard is certainly deserving of his spot at the top of our list. He costs only 2m in the market, and he sits at the top of the pile with 74 points. Besides being a part of 13 clean sheets, he has also contributed with three goals and two assists. He has one of the bests P/P ratio in our fantasy league at 39.5. He is a must buy!

2. Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea)

Another Chelsea player on our list. Gary Cahill has looked like a different player in Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 system. He is second on our list with 69 points and costs a considerable amount of 10m in the market. He has been a part of 13 clean sheets and has also chipped in with three crucial goals. He has a more-than-decent P/P ratio of 7.4.

3. Kyle Walker (Tottenham)

The Spurs right-back has been in really good form this season. Spurs travel to Sunderland on Tuesday night, and we are backing the England international to have an influential performance in the game. He is available for 8m and has 47 points in his bag. He has been a part of nine clean sheets and has also contributed with five assists.

4. Victor Wanyama (Tottenham)

The Kenyan is definitely a good buy at 7.5m. He has been impressive for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season and has collected 44 points in our fantasy football. He has taken part in nine clean sheets for Spurs and has also scored two goals. He has a P/P ratio of 5.7.

5. Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)

The last spot in our list is represented by the Red side of the North London. The Gunners have a home game against Watford this mid-week, and we are backing the Frenchman to collect some valuable points in this fixture. He is available for 8.5m and has picked up 35 points. He has been a part of seven clean sheets and has scored two goals.
